My buddy was following behind me the other day and said every time I shifted I would blow a puff of blueish smoke. It was present no matter what, but noticeably worse when I was really getting on it, then shifting.

What does that indicate?

( I searched, but not well enough I guess *dunno*)

Could be fuel, but usually thats more blackish, but Ive seen it bluish too...

How are your fluid levels? Oil, coolant? Are you running any heavy mods? Big injectors, turbo, etc?

blu smoke is oil burning, could be your turbo or valve seals

When you shifting you let of the throttle and stop producing boost and run vac. At this moment your BOV/recirculating valve will engage... You will be running quite rich at this moment as your ECU/injectors can't react that quickly. If you have an atmospheric BOV (like the HKS SSQV) you're running *really* rich as all that air is being blown out of the system. A care running rich will put out unburnt fuel - black ish.

Now if it's blue...oil? I know that my stocker turbo gives me a nice little cloud of blue when bootin' it. Especially when slowing down to a light when taking an exit off the highway. Most people here have had the blue cloud pass them at a red light ;) It's older, and I imagine the seals are on their way out. On the dyno there was some blue smoke under WOT @ about 4k rpm.

OK, its oil... Now that I think about it, it wasnt really bluish, but it wasnt black, but smelled like gas, bad... I guess thats what I was tryin to say... *this was on a dyno btw*

Toby, yur turbo seals are goin out, mine did that on my old 60-1 CT... It'll get worse, then it'll get noisy...

I had blue smoke the first few seconds of start-up because of valve seals, but not so much when shifting.
