what do you use more msn aim or icq

Why Java based? Java is not very lightweight and there are other ways to get portability. When I was on my internship at IBM the new version of SameTime (for instant messaging) was programmed in Java and based off of Eclipse, I believe. It was slow as crap.

I've wanted to make a web based chat in PHP with AJAX, but I haven't had time. It wouldn't take too much modification to PHPMyChat (http://www.phpheaven.net)
