What do you GTE guys do for a voltmeter?

I think the boost gauge is where the voltmeter is in the N/A's instrument cluster. So do most of you with the GTE just live without a voltmeter, or do you have an aftermarket gauge you could recommend to be mounted somewhere appropriate?

I've never really encountered a full instrument set before which didn't include a voltmeter, and I have historically had problems with alternators so I thought I would ask. Thanks...

If you search around there is a DIY for putting the NA voltmeter in place of the boost gauge. It is pretty straight forward.

So you're both running with a N/A voltmeter, and an aftermarket boost gauge since our boost gauges are kinda questionable anyway?

Both my cars were originally N/A's, so I just kept the voltmeters in them. :)

But the swap is pretty straight forward. Just grab one from an N/A car from your year span. (gauges changed styles;))

I found that how-to before I posted my question, so I knew that such a change-out was possible. I was merely wondering if that's the route the GTE people on the board usually went since you could either A: get an aftermarket voltmeter, or B: get an aftermarket boost gauge. I figured there were some opinions out there on it and wanted to know what people thought.

But thanks for the reminder about searches. :biglaugh:

X2 Pointless for a voltmeter our car has a warning system built in. If the voltage goes under 11 the Antilock light comes on. ;)

:biglaugh: Okay, that I didn't know.

Question for everyone on their turbo timers functioning as a voltmeter. Is that a standard function on most timers? I don't have a timer, hadn't really planned on getting one as I don't see myself really beating on my car and usually let my cars chill for a moment before shutting down anyway. But with this new info I'm kinda sorta leaning that direction just as insurance.
