Whats up all, so what are your coments on the Unorhtadox light weight pully or any other light weight pully? I know their great for losing rotary mass for quicker revs, but then not so great because there is no longer a dampener and a little harsh on the engine. let me hear your comments and thoughts on this because I think it could be a good mod.

Thanks Supra Lovers!

there seem to be mixed thoughts on them...but I'd just as soon keep the stock one or have a custom one made with a dampener. I've got one like new one sitting in a box here collecting dust if you want it.

if you wanna free up some horsepower, get a lightweight flywheel. you'll notice it a WHOLE lot more. the unorthadox pulley is NOT dampened, as wingman stated already. eventually, an undampened pulley will help to tear apart your motor, as it doesnt dampen vibrations and whatnot.

if you search around, figgie had a custom one made, dampened, and lightweight, with the option for the A/C belt or not. it was nice as hell.

As stated and by my personal experience I would stay away from the crank pulley from any manufacture. If you go with a pulley set just get the water pump, alt and PS. KEEP your dampened crank pulley.

EDIT: As I type here my buddy is working on my CUSTOM one off pulley/pulley's :) I am making the water pump pulley today but will also make the alt another day. 6 1/2 hours of programming and now it is FINALLY in the machine. (this is just for the water pump pulley) No PS as I have none. Sorry to get off topic here but I am sooooo excited!

Biggest suckers of power are the flywheel and driveshaft. Leave the pulley alone or you will tear your engine apart like everyones said.

Can you please explain your personal experience with the non-dampened one?
Been looking everywhere for actual engine-damage stories but never found one.
I have the UX cranck pulley laying here, it is soo lightweight, i want to mount it

A long time about 4 years ago I came across this Supra. It was white and I loved it. It was on a nice summer day. Just joking. LOL

I tried the pulley on and drove it for about 1 year. Decided to check why the belt was coming off at times. I look closer to see the pulley wobbling. :aigo: I took it off and to my amazement it was sure enough moving as it showed a almost oval pattern in the center hole of the crank pulley. I didn't damage anything and am happy for that but will not use that again and will also tell others the same. That was about 4 years ago. I use the OEM pulley. :)

Dude you seem hell bent on using this PoS pully when everyone is advising against it......

Why bother asking the question just go ahead and use it and stop wasting people's time.

I'm not stopping him...I could use the extra space mine's taking up if he wants it for 1/3 the price :naughty:

of course i was just kidding in my last reply to Duane
Just would like to hear from someone who actually had bearing/cranck failure because of the UX pulley

Maybe it's a language thing or a lack of comprehension but try reading what I wrote again as you don't seem to have grasped it in any way that resembles my statement.....

You implied/inferred that Duane is some sort of newbie moron that is blaming the failure of the pulley on his own inability or ineptitude when the exact opposite is true....

As I said use your lightweight wonder pulley and then you will know either way.

Seriously Mk3 guys seem to forget it's NOT a race motor that can be rebuilt/freshened after xx races and you all insist on using these idiotic wanker parts that may give xx% of a HP but cost any longevity or reliability...
