Tonight is the night, gonna pull an all nighter and get the supra running before daylight so I can test drive all day tomorrow and hopefully drive it to import Alliance Sunday.

Finally made the decision to install some HIDs in my Hella E-Code housings. Bought the Phillips 4300k Bi-Xenon kit and my god are they amazing. Nice and bright, pure white color (doesn't attract cops) and nice and focused beam cause of the housings. Just need to adjust them a bit more to get the beam right where I want them but I'm happy.

Eventually I'd like to do projector housings, but that'll be well into the future.

The easiest way to get the beam right with Ecode housings is to make a spacer to space out the hid bulb. I did this when i had them before i went with projectors. But yea this will allow the closest to getting a clean beam pattern.

A buddy gave me his oil cooler hardline so I everything is buttoned up and good to go. Need to top off the oil since some leaked out when i was changing the hardlines.

So did you space the bulb backwards a bit? Cause I find the beam pattern to be a bit dirty right now, I'd like to have a clean pattern again if possible. How did you make the spacer?

If possible I'd like more information on this please.

I like pulling all nighters I did that when I thought my water pump was leaking but turned out it was that stupid 90 degree hose behind it after I changed my water pump and timing belt.

I am thinking about getting HID headlights and yellow HID fog lights any advice on this idea or should I stay away from HIDs?

Yea I kind of figured they were just trying to get me to leave when he was talking about radial drag I was like uhh I doubt that would make my steering wheel crooked.

My car does have airbags or air bag as far as I know lol. I wish I knew how to do it myself because I really was looking up how to do alignments and I couldn't find any instructions that would help with MK3s they were all on SUVs and newer cars.

I would go back to Firestone and tell them to keep the wheel straight and fix it but they take quite awhile to do it and I don't really have an hour to spend there also it's been awhile since I last went so I am out of warranty and they will probably hide behind that. I just want to find a better shop and chalk it up to do better research next time.

Yeah. I had this problem with my alignment a few months ago. I went to Firestone and paid for a lifetime alignment. The took the car in the shop, aligned it, and gave me the print out showing it was in alignment. As soon as I left the shop I knew something was wrong. The car pulled to the right and the wheel was definitely not straight. I drove it like this for a few weeks until I couldn't stand it anymore. I went back, and made an appointment for 8 o'clock in the morning the next day.

I dropped the car off and had someone pick me up the next morning. I expected to have the car back by noon or so since there were very few people there. By 4 I still did not have the car back so I drove by and found the car still sitting where I had left it. Needless to say I wasn't happy.

At 5 I called them and they said the car was just finished and ready to go. While I was waiting in line to pick up my keys I see my car back in the shop up on the rack. At this point I almost exploded in the shop. They had had the car for 9 hours and still weren't done. I had made an appointment for a reason. The manager said the car is still pulling so the guy was rotating the tires to fix it. I didn't want the tires rotated but at this point all I really wanted was my car back. Then when they finished and said the car was good I asked to have the printout from the alignment machine. The guy told me the computed died right as he went to print it. Yeah right... I certainly won't be taking the Supra there again, a different Firestone in my area will get my business from now on.

The strange thing is my dad takes all of his cars there on the weekends and has had nothing but good service, but the two times I took my car there were during the week and the first time they did it wrong and the second time it took them 10 hours to fix it. There is certainly a discrepancy between the weekend crew and the weekday crew. I had my tires mounted at a different Firestone in town about two years ago and they were great. The manager and I talked about my car and his previous cars and it was a good experience.

Maybe you should try a different Firestone in your area Doat, I'm sure there are several in the Houston area. I think we have four in my area. The service may be much better at a different Firestone.

I was thinking of going to NTB but the one closest to me has some bad reviews. I'll keep looking and ask around for a more reputable shop but I will ask them if I can drive the car in and out of the bay because I don't like how Firestone drove my car even though the guys all loved it and one guy showed me a tattoo on his arm of a nos bottle and told me, "Nos not turbo" I was like turbo > nos don't have to refill my turbo or heat it up with a torch. The people at the shop were pretty cool but they had like 3 different techs "fix" my alignment and I was watching them work on my car, I do get over protective about my car when I let some stranger drive it but that is because I love it that much and I always drive it in the bay if they don't have a safety policy or whatever. So I will do more thorough research and try to find some friends that have dealt with the shop and such.

i ordered some ngk 5690 iridium plugs, and polished some more stuff under the hood.
i also decided that having a blow off valve AND a lightened flywheel WILL make your car stall out when coming to a stop. time for megasquirt.

I have some stalling issues as well I have a blow off valve and a 11.5lb flywheel and sometimes when the revs are a bit high and I shift into neutral it will struggle to idle then the IACV will finally correct it or it will stall out.

I know exactly what you mean. I hate letting other people drive my car. I feel like they beat on it and don't care since it isn't their car. I'm sure I am just as protective of mine as you are of yours. When I first got the car it needed a clutch but I had never done one and neither had my dad so I had it done at a local import shop. When I picked up the car I saw that they had set the TEMS to sport for their test drive. I don't really want to know how they drove it.

I try and do as much work on my car myself as possible. The only times I have taken it to a shop for anything were for the clutch, when I had my new tires mounted, and alignments. Two of them are things I can't do on my own.

I am the exact same way I try to all of the work myself but luckily a friend of mine owns a shop 5min way from me and I go there for any work that I can't do to my and they do great work and know how to drive manuals. If they could do everything including alignments and inspection for ODB1 I'd go there but they can do like 90% of the stuff I would need anyway.

I don't have anything like that. :(

I forgot about the place that I had tint my windows and windshield. They do great work, but the first time I took my car there they had some guy pull it in who Im pretty sure thought he was qualified to drive manuals because he watched a video on youtube... The second time they had some tiny lady do it. I assume she is the only one there who can actually drive a stick properly.

I thought about getting ceramic tint done on my windshield too since I got it on all of my windows but I don't want to deal with cops saying I gotta remove it if they get suspicious and do a test or something. It would be awesome though to have full protection like that.

I thought that way too, but I went for it any way. I have 32% ceramic on the sides and back with 50% ceramic on the windshield. You can barley tell it is tinted unless you know it is there. They did a really good job and I doubt anyone would notice it. Its been like two months now and I haven't had any troubles. The guy at the shop said he had it on his Maxima for years and never had any trouble. It definitely helps with the heat and It seems to take down the glare a little at night even.

I might do it the shop my friend used to work at did my tint I got 25% all around the darkest legal tint and he said they could do the windshield for like $100. I might do it soon.

That's a pretty good price. I paid $160 for my windshield.

Since we've cluttered up the thread without any pictures, here are some of the tint.

In person it looks a little darker than stock, but most people would have trouble telling it is tinted and probably end up saying it is darker because the windows are tinted.
