so who all has coilovers. what cha got??
tell me about them.
get en new? buy them used? let me know.

how do they ride? soft, hard? bouncy, firm?
how low can you go?
tuck 18s
tuck 17s
scrape on everything or chevy riding high boi?
let me know, im in the market and want to know firts hand experience.
my friend has megan tracks 18,14kgs and i think they are ok, a bit soft still i think.
jic flta-1's offer a 12,9kgs BUT im sure the valving will compensate a bit. And JIC quality is top notch.

Tien flex seems to be the best offering from tien. I like tien but sometimes they can be bouncy. I have HE's on my silvia and they are real good, but a bit bouncy. the spring rate is 12,6kgs so i think they might be soft.

Now i know their is ALOT of other companies out there(cusco,buddy-club...) but the fact is they would be used and most likely need revalving. and that cost money on top of the inital cost.

now my goal is mostly track and some street, and by track i mean drifting, not drag. I compete alot and the supra will be next years car so the coilovers need to be stiff and the car must be low.
I can get new coilovers at wholesale so i am leaning at the megans due to cost being around 800, flta1's around 1100, and flex's 1100 as well.

I am leaning towards the megans so i can spend some money on suprasport rear traction arms.
discuss.

currently rocking megan track spec's on my JZA70. 18 F 14K R. havnt gotten a chance to play with em too much. only thing i can say about em is that they dont go as low as i would have liked out back. Quite stiff and very fun to drive on. definately feels better than the stock bilsteins i had on the car. :)

that is my only problem with the megans, I dont want to modify the rear spindel to get as low as i want. but i really dont want to spend 1100 on coils.

yea im not sure if there is an easier way to get that extra bit of lowering id like but im going to explore a few options. how low were you aiming for. mine are as low as i can get them and i can barely get a finger between tire and fender lip.

I got TEIN's on my GA70. Firm but still comfortable on the street. Badass up in the moutains! I have my stock sawblades on with 225/50's out back, 225/45's up front. plenty of clearance for even 18's. I think.

The mountains are pretty fun and can be very challenging. They can be very narrow and rather bumpy at times. They also put speed strips( like small speedbumps) throught the mountain roads. Kinda ruins the fun sometimes.

You shall recieve pics as soon as I manage to get a camera. I suppose I could use my cell phone but the quality would be rather shabby.

I'm running Tein SS, too soft and bouncy for me.

BTW, you get bounciness from the shocks not keeping up with the spring rate (ie: shocks not firm enough). This is one of the problems I have with the Teins, the shock adjustment only adjusts the bound and not the rebound, so once you match the bound to the rebound (even when adding a little more firmness to the bound), it's too bouncy. I'm thinking about going with JICs later on.

poop on that.
i WANT to tuck 17s. you should not be able to get a finget in the rear.
what profile tire are you running in the rear?
how low have you made your flex's go?
tien says you can only drop them 2.7 in the rear, and that seems too little.

i need it to go real low, my exhaust is low profile and tucked up high so it wont be a problem.

yea jic is good stuff. the price throws me off, but i know you get what you pay for.

im running 255/40/17 falken azenis st-115 out back. i agree it needs to go lower. once i get 18's im going to put that a little higheron my priorities. ill either make the megans work or move on to something else.

RHDMK3: i would love you if you got some nice shots of the mountain roads / cars that drive on em

You will not be able to tuck with Teins. There is enough adjustment with the spring perches to, but the springs and shocks are too soft to tuck with. I would like to go lower but I can't dew to the softness.

Here is a pic of the lowest I was able to go before scraping on most bumps and I've still managed to scrape the exhaust (the exhaust is tucked very well too). More pics are in my build thread.

What type of Teins? I am looking at getting the SS setup after winter.

ss is a no go due to the fact that they do not come with the top mounts. And the SS adjust the height by the spring preload. boop on that, you loos stroke that way.

With the JICs you will able to tuck, no problem. I actually adjusted them quite a bit to fit 2 fingers between the tire and the wheel opening.

They are firm, and will make that big car handle like a gokart. after almost 2 years, they were too much for me as for daily use - besides, the rears started to develop leaks at the seals (do to shitty mountain roads - the shocks were out of their element). Nash is going to have them rebuilt and then try them out - I would talk to him in a few months after he gets them on his ride.

For fun, they are great - a wide range of adjustability (make sure to cut the bumpstops - they are too long stock).

For everyday, I thought they were too much at times.

I now have a tanabe/koni set-up - much softer; more touring than sport.

good luck w/ your choice.

Cant I use the stock non-tems pillowball mounts? Any coilovers you would recomend?
