Just a quick Q.. What type of bulbs could I get that are a little whiter than the ones in the stock fogs. What type of bulb would work?

4300k philips HID kit for the H3. that would give you stark white light.

Hmm, well I do not have HID headlights, so it would be kind of dumb for me to spend the money on outfitting my fogs with an hid kit and not my primary lights.. although I rarely ever use them (i'm sure i would if I outfitted them with a HID setup)...

Other than an HID kit, what do you suggest for standard H3 style bulbs that are very bright and white.

HID fogs arent gay... HID anythings are sweet, even backup lights ;)

actually, for the fogs, i would get a 3000k bulb. that would make it yellow like the Lemans GT2 cars and "JDM fogs".

silverstars are the best, low-buck upgrade. what my friends do, is buy the silverstars from walmart, swap out the old bulbs and take the silverstar's back to walmart and gets his money back.

haha I would screw walmart over like that if I'm not about to get a job there lol! I am going in on saturday to start at the tire and lube express.. so ya...

And I am wanting brighter, more white lights for the fogs... and HID fogs would be freakin' sweet if I had HID headlights already, I'm just sayin I would rather spend the money on my headlights than for my fogs.

tek hit it on the spot, ive got a pair of sealed beam silverstars for my main lights, and silverstar h3 55w bulbs in the fogs. gives me a beautiful pure white light.

after i replaced my headlights with silverstars, the fogs just looked yellow, so I bought a pair of the silverstar h3s. if you need the model number, ive still got the package in the basement. i think they were $20 apiece, so a little expensive but they were well worth it.

Actually I'm interested in the replacement headlights aswell. How much where they and what is the model number? I have a set of ebay "diamond" cut headlights with blueish white h4 bulbs but the quality of the beam is horrible... thus why I just run fogs unless it's pitch black out.

A nice set of Hella H4 lenses (http://www.suprasport.com/Hella-H4_p_0-36.html) and a good set of quality PIAA Bulbs (H4 for the headlights and H3 for the fogs) will give you the best possible lighting.

H3 - http://piaa.com/Bulbs/Bulbs-H3.html
H4 - http://piaa.com/Bulbs/Bulbs-H4.html

Yes... you will spend a bit more up front for the PIAA bulbs (and Hella lenses) but I've been running my PIAA bulbs since 1998. So $75 / 8 years works out to be $9.37 per year. I've heard of people picking up the cheap-O bulbs and having them burn out in less than a year. Price for the cheap-O bulbs was $25. If you do the math that is $200 for cheap-O bulbs over 8 years.

model number for the silverstar sealed beams - h6054 st
model number for the silverstar foglights - h3 st

prices were $20 apiece for everything, so if you're gonna do em all like i did itll be around $80. Well worth it all, if you ask me. the difference is pure secks.

Well, picked up some lights at lordco today before work and installed them when I got home.. nothing fancy, but better than what I had previously (stock fog bulbs and ebay diamond cut H4 lenses with some japanese "HID Look" bulbs)...

I picked up some GE Nighthawk sealed beam headlights, about $30 a piece (can).. and some xenon 100w H3 bulbs... for about $30 (again, can) for two... The GE headlights have a VERY nice beam and are fairly white, but it's like driving with daylight infront of me.. very nice. The fogs are slightly whiter than the headlights but aren't quite as bright as the bulbs before (55w stock bulbs)... I might end up getting that PIAA setup that Keith recommended with Hella H4 housings, or I might uprade to HID's in the hella housings, but for now this is a good setup.
