I will start by saying im sorry I know this has been asked probably about 4billion or so times but flame suit on I will ask away :icon_bigg

Ok I have a $100NZD(so maybe the price of an expensive pair of boxers) pos chicktiy china 50mm HK$ wastegate which nerves have got the better of me so Im not going to use it now the question is what to replace it with?

My thoughts were either 50mm synapse sycronic wastegate I have heard they are ment to be good but never 1st hand or 44mm tial which people swear by so im sure both brands are great if they are genuine but what about the size?

Why not use the HKS copy? People seems to have decent results with them.

Im using one, holds 10psi on my T4 MP T-70 rock solid. I do have an EMS that i can set a boost cut though. I have it set for about 12 psi as im currently running 10. So worst case it does fuck up the boost cut will shut it down before damage can be done. I don't foresee it happening but boost cut is a safety thats there for a reason. A boost reference line can get melted on any waste gate no matter how well its built. Shit happens with quality equipment too.

Not claiming its the best but i would use it in the mean time until you get something better.

Ahhh here's the kicker Ive had wings added to my sump which my wastegate (Hk$) one now fouls apon so I need to change the angle of the wastgate flange on my manifold which I don't want to do for a knockoff and the 2 previos mentioned wasgates are cheaper than real hks ones (keeping budget in mid) but yea I was going to use it and later change if I had issues.

I have the 40mm synchronic. It's nice for adjustability with the preload screw to dial in the boost you want as well as change where (pressure wise) the wastegate starts lifting. A lot of people have had issues setting boost with them, you can read all about it on synapse's forums off their website (visit http://synapseengineering.com/smf/index.php). Mine has been somewhat of a headache until I put the preload spring back in. I had problems with every port not changing anything to the boost levels. The weaker 45lb spring would only boost 13psi and the 60lb would only hit 23psi regardless of the port settings. Right now I have it "tuned" if you will with the 45lb spring and preload spring adjusted accordingly for 17psi.
