Nice exhaust Crisp... 255/50s are way too tall, lol... Too wide too... But eh, they're on there...

Here's what 245/45s looked like on my car...

Funny... YES! I'm like the BOZO the CLOWN-CAR of SUPRAS with these BULBOUS BALOON TIRES, eh?

BWAAAAAAAAHHHHHH ha ha ha ha ha!

I'm working on my replacements right now... and CURIOUS:

Will my 17x8 OZ's (currently on my SOLARA fit?)

I think the pattern is ALSO 114.3x5... so I'll give it a try JUST to see how they look/fit. (They are 40 offset, as opposed to 37 on the Supra?)

I think 245/45/17 on the 8" or 255/45/17 may be the ticket...

What do you guys think?

^^^ Not sure if the OZ Nova's are "right" for a Supra... but I'm willing to take a "look" at it. (I'm more partial to a "non-spyder" type wheel for the Soup.)

Crisp yur a trip, ya clown, lol... Yeah, I'd try those wheels, just for the hell of it... The 40 offset is fine... They should fit...

Whatever brand tire you go with, along with it's width, will have a recommended MINIMUM rim width to install on, follow those guidelines and you will be ok. Some brands in 245 flavor may be recommended as ok on a 7" wide rim, but another brand may not ;)

YES, 17x8. I really like these OZ rims as well... particularly on the 'lara... (Nova's, like the Lotus Esprit design... but not "deep dish")

I think they MAY look really cool on the Supra... have to try and see!

Yup... (clown) ...and THANKS (offset), I think they sould fit ok too.:biglaugh:

PRECISELY! The "sidewall" design seems to have a large bearing on this... not all sidewall/beads want to "pinch" or "spread" on to a rim the same way... EX. The BFG's "allowed" me to "balloon" those Comp T/A's because of exactly that fact... (including the TALL profile I stayed with...) In a 40 series of KUMHO's or something, I don't think it would EVER pinch a 255 on a 7" rim!

...appreciate the thoughts, guys... I'll post pics when I TRY the OZ's on the SOOOP!

Crisp - Welcome to SM. I've seen your posts over on SolaraGuy.

According to the offset calculator:
Stock rim (sawblade) 7.5" wide w/ 37 offset
Your rims 8" wide w/ 40 offset

You will lose 9mm of inner clearance but the outside edge will sit 3mm further out.

compare that to the MkIV rims (assuming the rims are both the same width front and rear):
Front - you will have 10mm more clearance on the inside and these will be 10mm further out (many say a 10mm spacer is perfect for the MkIV rims in front)
Rear - you will have 29mm more inner clearance but the outside edge will be 9mm in from what the MkIV rims are.

These would fit great.

The big question is what is the size of the tires. Make sure the overall diameter is close to stock or your speedo will be way off.

Ah HA! So you already KNOW I am trying to "behave" more here at SM?:biglaugh:

Thank you for the thorough explanation on the rims/offset detail... and the welcome, as well!
