What are some ways to clean your oil, water passages?

I will soon be putting my engine back together (BHG) soo I was wondering what is the best way to make sure the oil/ oil passages and coolant/coolant passages are as free of unwanted particles as possible before starting up the engine?

If the engine must be started, would the best way to be incredibly anal and do like 5 oil changes and coolant flushes within a 100 miles or less.

I have access to compressed air.

Thanks.

Pull the drain plug out of the block, and run the hose in the coolant passages until it flows clean. Once it runs clean, let it drain, then blow it out with the air. You can repeat this a couple times, and still get rusty brown crud out of it.

For the oil system, really the best way to clean it out is a good system flush at a local Jiffy Lube, if they have a flush machine. Find one that does, and get them to do it.

Edit: Honestly, the best way to do it is pull the block, and take it to a shop that can stick it in a cleaner. Hot tank, steam cleaner, ionic, whatever.

When you say coolant passages, so you mean each coolant hole in the block while the head is off...

Yes. Start at the front, work your way back. It's pretty messy, though, and you're gonna get water in the cylinders and bolt holes. Blow all those bolt holes out when you're done. This method will not get it real clean. It'll just get out the loose crud that's laying in there. If its got a lot of build up, pull it and get it cleaned correctly.

new oild pump drive bearings as well....which aren't fun

solvent and gun bore brushes...

I found if you pull the water pump off, you can REALLY get in there with a hose and clean it out...
