wet driver slide floor mat

okay was driving to work then all of a sudden my guage cluster started to fog up next thing I know my car overheated so I pull over... Wait ad some coolant drove it again n everything was fine... Came home from work n notice that my whole driver side floor mad is wet.... N I remember that if the passenger side is wet its the heater core.... Was just wondering if there is any other coolant/heater pipe that's on the driver side...or is it just the heater core?

Yep the "Out" side of the heater core is right there. The heater core is right in the center of the sups dash Any time there is coolant inside the car heater core is to blame.

EDIT: here is a pic of What the heater core and plastic looks like, notice the where the coolant go in and out ;)

You can crush the piping that runs through the drivers side if you tighten a clamp on it too much. That pipe can be replaced without replacing the heater core, but is just as fun to try to access. I think I have that pipe around here somewhere if you find you need it.

You should determine if the pipe is your problem though before buying one. It is the only piece that is actually on the driver side.

Pulling the dash isn't that bad. Once you've done it a few times, it only takes a couple hours start to finish. :) Hint: Keep the dash harness connected to the dash! Unplug it on either side at the junction blocks, makes everything SO much easier. ;) Hint2: Instead of pulling the steering wheel, drop the column via the two 17mm nuts underneath, let the whole steering wheel assy. drop down and rest on the driver's seat.

If you can turn a screwdriver and a 10mm, 14mm, 17mm socket/ratchet, you can pull the dash.

Key words there. I have removed one, and never want to do it again.:icon_evil It sucked balls and I didn't have to reinstall it.

LOL, maybe. But I'm very familiar with behind the dash now. :) I think I've done it 6-7 times by now, not all on my car. And I also did it on my M3 (which is more difficult), and on my '94 Toyota 4x4, so that makes a total of about 10 times or so, give or take. LOL.

Yeah, it gets easier for sure!

It's also not the ONLY reason, but appears to be the case here. If your A/C drain tube isn't stuck back through the hole in the firewall, that water will also make your passenger side wet. But it seems like you have the coolant leak, so there goes the easy solution...
