i have about 900 miles on my fully built 7M. it runs perfect...no problems. i have even had it dynoed and tuned. i put down 400rwhp. they went WOT with a messed up boost controller. i disconnected it, so i should only be around ~10psi of boost. but i'm just nervous to just floor it. i was thinkin of takin to the Sunshine Speedway tonight and possibly race, but i would want some WOT experience first. So have any of you gotten too nervous to go WOT? and how happy were you when you finally did it and nothing went wrong?

anyone that has a mk3 supra and doesn't have that experience is either lying or doesn't have a mk3 supra

I'm way worse off than you guys though

I came from rotaries........rx8, rx7FD, rx7FC and then a supra 7mgte

I am concerned with every little wierd sound that comes from my car, squeeks rattles knocks etc etc. it used to be to me that my rx8's engine note was uberwtf smooth, my TTS doesn't make any sound at all so I can't comment on that...... the rotary engines would just make a swirling sound, when I came to the supra, I thought the engine was falling apart or some crap. so yea, I got scared to even drive her hard, I always shifted at 3k rpm or there about, never took her to above 5k rpm in fear of the engine exploding (sorry, it's just not as smooth as the rotary) then I went 1jz, and am still paranoid, despite Aaron telling me all of this is normal, I can almost swear that my engine is having rod knock. apart from the fuel bypass being gone, it makes a ticking noise, the squeezing noise, and then every 3 seconds you can hear a faint 2-step knocking

idk wtf it is, but it sure as hell made me not want to rev it past 3k rpm, and a 1jz that can't go past 3k rpm is a fucking civic

I don't think I was ever scared to go WOT. Worried about things breaking yes, scared no. I just had to see what my car would do. I floored it right after the swap was done, after I gave 10 min or so for the oil to come to temp.

I wasn't scared of the acceleration aspect but a little worried about the breaking something part. I guess I just kinda worked my way up to it..... I did make my wife cry though the first time I opened it up with her in the car. She doesn't do well with that kinda stuff.

been there! Still there on somedays. Took some time to get used to the valve train rhythm... and other usual motor noises. I used to think the new gen hemis were loud! Not even close to the 7m.

keep the tune safe, and fluids in check (coolant, oil etc..)and obviously dont run it if you have signs of somthing failing (hg, oil psi, trans etc...) other wise i think the story goes that God creates a star eveytime a 7m survives a wot pull :D its in somebodies sig...

Same as some of the others here. Not really scared of the acceleration or power, just worried about keeping it going straight. A little side to side is ok for me; but, when I see skid marks that lead off the road, I'm reminded that I want to stay on the road!

Be careful and don't let your buddies talk you into doing something stupid.

Good luck! :)

After I rebuilt my 1J, I was terrified so turn the key and start it up. The thought of something going wrong on start up haunted my dreams. Then pulling it out of the garage was the next hardest thing to do. I was somewhat worried about the new clutch, seeing how I toasted my last one in under 2000 miles. By the time it came to the first WOT pull on a fresh rebuild, well everything eles made it a pretty worry free thing to do. Goes like a bat out of hell!

seen this a few times and ive seen the after math at a buds shop with running a nearly complete tune and something was off here or there. Finish the tune 100% before pushing the car!

yes, the first time I drove it.

I bought my supra as a project back when I still had an integra.

I took the supra for a drive as soon as I got it running, I nearly shit my pants when the car started to boost and get sideways.

It was a huge step up from my integra, almost double the hp and torque.

I never drove the integra after that, it sat in my driveway for several months and I ended up selling it.
