Well, after all my cleaning up last night of the battery acid (which took FORVER BTW) I got to wake up and go tune and test what kind of power i'm getting from the rebuild and mods. He threw it on and after about an hour of tuning anything BUT impressive numbers came out...about 220HP max and 240's Torque max.

Problem arised: uncontrollable boost spike. Turbo has about 160K on it and i'm not sure if its ever been rebuilt. My greddy spec II couldn't do much as it could only hold a STEADY 5-7PSI, after that, huge boost spikes occur up to about 12-13PSI at 3.5K or so and drops to 5 or 6 after 4K. We tried turning off teh boost controller and relied just on the wastegate. It gave a steady 6PSI or so. He told me it could be either the wastegate gone bad or turbo. My guess is a little bit of both. So now i'm going to take my other turbo and have it rebuilt most likely with 57trim and just assume its the turbo as an excuse :naughty: .

dont know your mods, so can comment on the numbers.

but i say this- stock is usually 170-180rw, and any day you drive home from the dyno is a good day.

anything could be causing your boost issue. since w/ the wg it runs a solid 6psi, id say the problem is somewhere other than the wg or turbo. vac line, ebc settings, etc.

^no boost leaks...no vacuum leaks, all been checked....just turbo/wastegate.
As far as my mods go they should put me atleast in the 250rwhp range.

So wait...you rebuilt your motor and threw a bunch of mods on it but then kept a 160,000 mile old stock turbo on it? :3d_frown: Let's see what it does with a rebuilt/upgraded CT26 or larger bolt on, given the mods.

If you're running 170rwhp on a stock car, that is one tired 7M. Most stock 7M's I've seen dyno are usually 190-200rwhp.

I just have to ask...when you did the "overbore .020" what pistons did you use? Did you find some .020 overbore stock pistons? Just asking because you didn't list JEs or anything and that would result in baadd power.

Sorry, he didn't mention having new pistons. I just wanted him to clarify whether or not he did instead of boring the block to .020 and putting stock pistons back in.

first off....rebuilding and not replacing pistons is idiotic. Second, they're toyota factory replacements with PROPER size/specs. The mechanic who built the motor happens to drag/race 7m's so he knows what he's doing

What brand injector and where did you buy them?

to be honest im not sure i think they're pulled, but they all work properly...i just can't get the boost in order. I know i'd do well because i saw the power curve where the boost spike was vs. wasn't
