Well I was going to go snow shoeing, however the place I was heading is the opposite direction of where my parents live so I was unable to grab snowshoes from them, and I arrived at the tettegouche office 10 minutes after they closed..... Well I still headed out to the trail I was going to without snowshoes, and it was an interesting couple days of trekking.....
Pics!

The new jetboil sol system held up really well, as did my smaller brunton raptor stoves...

Overall I am really pleased with all my gear for standing up phenomenally in the winter conditions, stayed warm all night in my 1lb 11oz sleeping bag.....
And the trusty volvo!

I request to know what your sleeping bag is. I have no clue on sleeping bags. Or tents.

I'm kind of camping phobic. Mike demands I get over it. I'm trying to delay that necessity for as long as possible, but there has been talk for years about deer hunting, and as far as I am aware, camping is usually involved in that.

I have a lafuma 650 pro sleeping bag, and I use a fleece liner for cold conditions, the fleece liner is going to be replaced by an ultra light synthetic liner made by sea to summit when I have the extra money. Also bear in mind when sleeping bags are tested it is in a controlled environment on a mattress... Mine is rated for a comfort level of down to 40 degrees, and the temps went fairly lower than 40 where I was. A good practice is to avoid cotton clothing, and use layers. I had 4 layers of clothing on when I went to sleep plus my fleece liner then the sleeping bag and was toasty all night, plus all my clothes dried out from my body heat, also socks play a huge role in comfort I use merino wool hiking socks and love them!(kinda freaks you out at first paying $13 for a single pair of socks, but well worth the investment)

Feel well about knowing up where I was the deer where more like road hazards than challenges...I honestly must have seen at least 100 deer on the drive out.

You camped out in the snow like that? I am guessing the heat was on high in the Vulva?

Yes, and yes it was, the old Volvo has an amazingly powerful heater!

2 words when it comes to sleeping bags : North Face. Hands down some of the best equipment you can get your hands on, and a good warranty too. I use a north face cat's meow bag 99% of the time when I camp. Its a poly, "3-season" bag. It's not rated to zero but I've slept outside in the high sierras (above 8,000 ft.) during late deer season (late September) without an issue.

When it gets colder, I use a down bag, I've been snow camping in that one. Down will keep you the warmest, but it becomes worthless if it gets wet. as far as what to wear, I just usually wear a pair of boxers or shorts and a t-shirt to keep my shoulders warm. Someone told me that with a down bag, the less you wear in it, the warmer you'll be as the down keeps you warm by trapping body heat.

Looks like a good trip Sean! Reminds me of some of my winter trips to the Upper Peninsula.

As far as winter clothing I've found that "Smart Wool" is the best that I've ever used. It's Merino Wool that I layer-tee shirt, long sleeve tee and zippered long sleeve tee, that with a fleece or wind stop jacket is good all winter. Being wool it will dry fast but keeps you warm when damp or wet.
