Well the day came that I finally heard my baby driving with me not behind the wheel. I put alot of time into getting that one going and running. So now on to the 90 targa with a 1j in it. Buying it for 2000k needs a alternator and some tlc and elbow grease. So did I f-up getting rid of the 7m for a 1j?

No, you didn't. Keep in mind, the 1JZ has its issues as well but most are with the maintanence. Seals and what not. I do have an alternator that is in my part out thread if you are interested though.

Let me know of any JZ parts you need, I am parting a 1JZ currently.

Only thing I miss about my 7m is the sound, to be honest. In the state of tune it was in (mostly stock, plumbing upgrades only), the 1j in the same state (only plumbing upgrades... err, well, cams and head porting too I guess), it walks all over how the 7m sounded. But I really don't care... still miss that 7m sound. :(

Lol ok I think I'm am going to enjoy the 1j. I still have the 7m that I am building for my 700 hp goal. I have a supra shell to put it in or a cressada shell to. Not giving up on that build. And I bought a supra. I defantaly be hitting you up on that alternator. Pm me your pay pal and the price please. The 1j will be my dd.

It could be worse...you could have gone down to a 1.8L 4 cyl....oh wait.....crap....that's me. I very much miss the sound and straight line speed of my Supra. On the flip side though, the celica I DD now should be MUCH easier to maintain and losing 1200lbs - 1300lbs reeeeeeeally helps in the corners. Sound? Well, it's no Honda fart can....but it's still not the mix of grunt and tone I had in the 7M. All I can say is it's not a bad sound.

You'll still enjoy the 1J I'm sure. Hopefully it treats will treat you well :)

i <3 the sound of my 1.5jz lol So smooth and throaty til redline lol... the jz will inception you with its sound. 1 yr from now after some more miles you will be singing a new tune..
I've been using my car for a DD for about 2.5 years. Still doesn't sound as good as a 7m. Maybe because I'm using it EVERY day that I drive... I get used to it. Our town (especially my drive) has very few opportunities to open it up, but my car does sound beautiful above 3k. :)

The only thing that kept me from ever buying a MKIII was a 7M I had a few friends that had supra's and all of them had soo many problems with the 7M..

I eventually bought a MINT 92 Supra with full BPU 7MGTE and .57 Turbo, only 105,000 miles retorqued HG with new HG.. Loved loved loved the sound of the 7M, even more then the sound of my old 1jz SC300.

my first month with the 7M the honeymoon was over quick and it became a nightmare of problems lol..

as much as i love the sound, the 7M has put such a bad taste in my mouth i swear i'll never own another..

I hope everyone keeps thinking 7m's are such horrible engines so there's more for me :D
I think the shift toward the JZ in the Mk3 community has been a good thing for all involved. JZ parts are now cheaper than they were 5-10 years ago, there is more of an aftermarket support, AND there are plentiful 7m's for those that need a new one once in a while. :p

JZ parts are cheaper but keep in mind, a lot of import places are still short on motors, so the price might go up according. Supply and demand.

One guy on this site said he's pay me 600 for the 1JZ I had listed as it came with everything but twins. -__-

I wonder if it's against the rules to open a low baller blog and list them there. :D

$600 Lmao Baller !

Anyhow all my 7m issues have been wiring now that I've replaced my engine harness it shouldn't be so bad I put about 27k miles on my car last year.

And I'm not very easy on her. Plenty of track time
