I was doing something stupid.... I won't say what because I don't have a good enough flame suit.
It involved high rpm, high boost under an enormous load(high mph for over 2 minutes)
I look up, egt's are through the roof, AFR is correct though. So, I let out. When I let out, the car goes rich for a moment, EGT's spike even higher, and I see flames under the hood. I start to slow down, and the EGT gets higher, and the flames get bigger. Sooo... I floor it, and the flames go out, EGT's go down slightly.
Well, I couldn't exactly stop immediatly in the predicament that I was in, so I maintain hauling ass. I try stay off boost until I get to my buddies house about a mile away, since I know he has a fire extingisher at home. So I Pull up in the driveway, and pop the hood. I then jump out immediatly with the car still running to keep from destroying my turbo. The turbo is glowing red, so is the downpipe, but the fire is out. The car runs for about 3 or 4 minutes before I turn it off, and cools off.
Looks like the only real damage is a burn boost controller to top of wastegate line...so no real biggie. I don't know if it overboosted or not and it was on pump gas. So I'll be doing a comp test tomorrow to see if everything is ok, and replacing the line. I'm going to route it a little differently this time I think.
