Welding the clutch pedal isolator?

My clutch pedal is creaking, loud. I took it apart, and found that the vibration isolator that's on the linkage rod between the pedal and the master cylinder is what's creaking. I just replaced it (came with the new master cylinder), and it's worked fine for about two months now. It looks like the only purpose of that thing is to make the clutch pedal have a "smooth luxury feel" or something.

Anyway, to stop the creaking I think I'm going to weld it solid. Can anyone think of a reason not to?

The plastic bushings are likely missing or worn. Part 31301C, 31453B, and. 31354A

Nope, the bushings are like new. It was this thing that's on the end of the pushrod, between the locknut and the fork that goes on the pedal. This is the exact one, I bought it from RockAuto.

I was just looking, and not all of the years/models had this thing. The original aisin one that I replaced had it, but the parts system doesn't show it in the diagram.

It's pretty much a cup with a block of rubber in it with a piston that pushes on the rubber. When you push the pedal it squishes the rubber a little and I guess it isolates some vibration or something. The rubber block in mine cracked apart and the metal piston was creaking on the cup part. I just welded it solid. No more creaking.

I think my performance clutch caused the rubber block's early demise... extra pedal effort.

My clutch is more solid and predictable now, I should have done this sooner.

No, I put it back in already, you can't really see the welds with it in there.

There's a part with two flat spots for a 14mm wrench to hold onto while you tighten the 12mm locknut on the adjustment rod. I welded the part with the flat spots to the big round thing.
