I agree with buying a hard top. I'll never own a targa again. It's a novality item. That is all. Sunroof ftw.
To an extent, I agree. Love the sunroof in my Mk2, but have never been in a Mk3 with the sunroof. 80% of the open air, none of the leaks. None of the looks either, but the car pretty much gets looks no matter how the roof is. ;)

Yeah, you all make a very good point. I'm just not sure if I would have the courage to take it of after the cage is fully welded. I doubt I would ever get it on again.

If you can get it off with the cage in, you can get it back on with the cage in. Flateric makes a good point though, it never hurts to do the stitch welding. Well, nothing's hurt other than your back anyway. :p

stitch weld the frame?

Not the frame, the unibody structure. Involves going through, gutting the car, and fully welding where the factory merely spot-welded panels together. I've only known maybe 2 people who have done it, it's a rather extensive proposition, but for those looking for every ounce of rigidity, it's worth it.

Welding the targa top!!?? Horrible idea!! There's braces out there that bolt on when the targa is taken off, I would invest in one of those, I love my targa and welding my targa shut would never cross my mind, Smh!!

I've been considering the idea of having a buddy cut off my roof to weld a hardtop on in it's place.. He did it to his FC, and it came out great.
