so ive thought of this before and thinkin about it now... but i figured id learn more about it first... on some drifters they weld the differential... wouldnt that be constant posi compared to our lsd?? how would that feel compared to a regular lsd compared to welded... and if this is done it would be done on a daily driver... recomended or not??? what kind of a difference would this make? what would it do for me exactly? sorry for the noobness question... i just wanna know

Hittin' the books at Tech
that is a very bad idea on a daily driver. This should only be done to dedicated race cars. A welded diff spins both wheels the same speed all the time. Its a permanent locker.

To some the welded diff is like a super good LSD... The only thing is it's harsh!
You will get lots of wheel hop... Maybe not so much on the supra but my buddy did it to his AE86 and the thing rips!!!!

I think i might do it to my FC3S, You wouldnt want to do it to a daily driver though!

The supra has a very good LSD and are super easy to find, just go to the Junk yard and pic one up, and if you already have LSD, then it's not worth it to weld it....

I drift the shit outa my FC... But the supra is a awsome drifter also you just need to get use to the heavy front end and understeer!!!

The welded dif will just get you wheel hop, but yes it will break loose a hole lot sooner in the turn!!!

haa I had the center diff welded in my 92 AWD talon back in the day.. that was good times! In the parking lots and tight corners I got some wheel hop, nothing I couldn't live with by any means... when I punched it around the corners I could kick the tail out like RWD.

that was a hell of a car... I miss it. :(

Here's another little thing to consider...

If you are driving on anything but dry pavement, wheel hop will be the least of your concern!

If it gets wet out and you are unfortunate enough to be on the road, chances are you'll be facing oncoming (head-on) traffic in short order.

Drift or no drift it's not a streetable option.

I agree. Also, if the diff isn't giving, something else has to. It's not just going to wear your tires. It will wear the axles, bearings, ect...

In the end it would be cheaper to go with an LSD rebuild than replacing axles and bearings...

A lot of the 240 guys I know have welded diffs. You can not drive them normally. No real point of doing this if you just cruise your car. And as others said, LSD's are easy to get for our cars so you might well get one.
