Bonus, I think your reputation speaks for itself (see those 3 little red bars?...)

Also, if this "battery" is anything like any other rechargable battery man has seen to date, recharging it without fully draning it will shorten said battery's life span.

you dont have to trust me on this one. tesla's website says at least 100,000 miles for the battery, no matter how it used.

Ok well, (example:) Nokia's website will also advertise a lifespan for their cell-phone batteries. BUT, they act much like deep-cycle batteries, where they are meant to be fully drained and recharged, not partially recharged.

Partially recharging these batteries creates a "memory" insiide it, and it starts to think it can only hold that partial charge.

with all due respect, i hope you're wrong here. i like the electric car.

let me just give you my source of info:

"Realistically, drivers will not completely discharge their pack. More likely, drivers will drive the car for 50 or 100 miles then plug it back in to charge it up to 100% SOC."

In estimating the life of our batteries, you can multiply the number of cycles by the range. 500 cycles times 250 miles/charge works out to 125,000 miles, but our estimate is a more conservative 100,000 miles. However the cycle life of 500 cycles is based upon performance that is more challenging to the battery cells than our application."

Yeah I saw that in the Tesla thread. I read the whole thing :icon_razz

I dunno, it just seems like flawed logic :dunno:

remember, cell phone batteries are different than car batteries. cell phones work at a constant, low frequency, while the tesla's battery works at a wildy-varying frequency. i for one trust the people at tesla.
