I was washing my car the other day. I have JDM taillights, and the middle center piece is black (see the little toon in my sig for an idea of what im talking about).

When i was wiping down the taillights, i realized the trim on the center piece is different than all the other trim i've seen on 89+ Supras.

The trim isnt flat like pre 89s, and it has the little "kick" like 89+'s, but it has 2 indentations along the body, like it's ribbed (for my pleasure)...

ill take a pic tomorrow, but i was wondering if there's a 3rd kind of trim...?

maybe it's off a turbo A? i have no idea...

i drew an example in photoshop (it was simple to being with, but i started getting into it)

There as a 1988 narrow body 2.0 tt in the icty that had those exact mouldings. So my guess will be thats off a narrow body mkiii

yeah thats the part thats got me wondering. But it is the same kind that this 88 narrow had. maybe they removed htem oulding off of the pre89 tails, glued it where the moulding on the 89+ were, then sold them. lol

They made the 1g until 92 I believe. I bought GA70 tails and they had that trim so I think it just came stock on the later cars.

i kinda like that trim more, no one really has it..


also, are ga70 front signals different?

i've seen pics and it appears as if they're half orange, half dark amber..

very subtle, but noticeable...

Do you have a picture? It sounds to me like you're just describing the light refraction from the retroreflector. The retroreflector in the side markers have half that faces forward the other faces rearward... Take a close look at yours and you'll see what I'm talking about.

at 1st i thought they were just dirty, but i saw another 2 pairs that were supposed to be from a GA70, and they looked identical..

the ga70 ones appear to be a mix between the JDM ones, and the "orangy" USDMs...

I'm just not seeing it... they'd really have to be stacked on ontop of the other to compare. With retroreflective lenses the slightest change in lighting or angle makes a massive difference. The ones you used as examples look the same color to me, the top ones just look poorly lit and dirty.

Definitely a narrow body tail light center piece. Trim is different on narrow body models.

As for the front lights, nope, they were the same for all years of 89+ except for the Turbo A which had a different part number. My guess is it is lighting or something, I dunno.

But yeah i htought the same when i first seen the ga70 mouldigns too. I wonder how hard it'd be to peel that stuff off
