weird set up

this is new to me, , a friend bought a 91 for a parts car witch I'll be getting the rear end i hope, but anyway,

its turbo charged , has intercooler hard pipes, but theres one thing, .... no intercooler !

i'm like what the hell is going on there,,

any one ever heard of that kind of set up ?
can a mod throw in a "R " for weird in my title please....

I would guess the old owner either likes hot air or this was meant to be an inexpensive fix.

I've seen a few turbo conversions (mostly Hondas) done that way around here.

People sell or keep their intercoolers, and stick a pipe in there

its fittingly called "hot piping" or "hot charging" ... a LOT of full out turbo darg cars run the turbo outlet straight to the TB. im sure you can see the obvious advantage and disadvantages. bottom line on a street car though is anything over 5psi or so and you are probably doing more harm then good.

probably not... Maybe for drag racing, but not on a daily...
