K to start, when the car is turned on..

The headlights pop up
Interior lights turn on (guages)
Driver headlight no longer works, pass. is on
Running lights on

When I turn the knob to turn on the lights (2 clicks)..
Interior lights go off
Headlights go down

When I go full throttle or get near higher rpms (Over 4kish)..
Headlights turn off and go down, and pop back up and on once driving returns to normal

Just got the car back from the mechanic and it has this problem, he said he didn't touch the headlights or anything but this problem seems quite strange. Any chance this could be caused by the headlights being on the wrong battery terminal or something? What should I do? Any input/similar problems?

Day time driving is fine, just unplug the headlights ;)

I think the first plan of attack should be finding out if the driver's headlight is still ok. How do I go about checking if it's the bulb or wiring (I have a multimeter and general electrical know-how). Any way to test the light?

Thanks for any and all help, greatly appreciated :)

K well the driver's headlight the bulb was out so that light is just dead. After going over the wiring my friend is starting to think it's the relay sticking open or somehow causing this, so we're gonna try out his relay on my car and see if that fixes the problem.

K well my relay seems to be ok, I cleaned the contacts and made sure its in their perfect and made some more progress.

In ACC or ON position, EVERYTHING IS FINE. Interior lights work just right, headlights work just right, and parking lights work just right.

As soon as the car is started, EVERYTHING REVERSES

Any ideas as to what would cause this/what to check/how to fix it?

Which grounds should be replaced or strengthened? When I first got the car they didn't even have a ground going from the battery - to chasis... so I added that but not a huge one, where are the other main grounds?

Not sure. I just know a few people have had some crazy problems that better grounds fixed.

The shop the put in my new clutch for me didn't hook the rear tranny ground back up and my car wouldn't start sometimes. I found it resting against the transmission... Everything seems fine now. Except now my clutch is slipping again after I've taken it to this place twice...

All the relays looked ok and a new headlight relay had the same results. Pulled the main fuse and found out something interesting.

The headlights only cut out when the car is started, not when it's cranking. So that rules out the starter, leaving the alternator as the next big plan of attack. I already suspected it as the headlights cutting out was rpm/load dependent when the car was running, so I'm hoping this is just the final bug that needs to be fixed before the lights are back to normal. Noel noticed that it's direct wired without the 100amp fuse so that will be the first thing to change and then try to figure out how the hell they wired up the 1jz alternator.

I hate electrical
