If your a/c is in working order or can be fixed for under $300 fix it, its hot as hell and no fun, and 50lbs for no a/c is not worth it imo.

I was considering pulling off the sound deadening from my carpet today.

Just how bad is the road noise when it has been removed?

I'd like to shift some weight from the car, but I don't want to sacrifice any functionally if possible, the car is a daily driver, not a race car.

a seat belt clasp from a 87 on up tercel will work just fine to replace the one attatched to the seat.doing both the drivers and passengers seat will save ALOT of weight right off the bat.
getting a donut spare will save some.

ditch the spare, get a can of tire sealer and a little air compressor that plugs into the cig lighter.
get some lightweight wheels (believe some cheap light ones are the FC rx7 wheels)
lighter seats (wont be hard to find them)
sound deadening
all ac components stripped
all heat components stripped
remove carpet and deadening
remove back seats
replace glass with lexan
carbon hood
lighter battery
carbon/steel/alum driveshaft
there are just a few

a lot of times CF hoods are just FRP w/ a layer of cf on top. they don sell a full carbon hood for the mk3, and it'd cost way too much to have one made, so a better bet would be to just get a regular FRP hood.

the only road noise you'll hear above an aftermarket exhaust is the rain splashing up in the wheel wells, and on the floorboard, which, IMO is a very soothing noise. hahaha

Everything is much louder on the inside without sound deadening, its not just the rain drops that you hear. You hear rock/debris, wind noise, engine noise, exhaust noise, suspension noise, everything is just generally much louder.

89+ rear belt receiver works as well.
