Since the SCCA won't allow turbo's I wouldnt run a supra, the supra is a Turbo Car it was designed for turbos not some pussy ass NA 6 in it. 3500+ lbs will not do well with a 3.0L inline NA 6

the first supra rally cars didn't have turbos... and did quite well

it did do awesome in rally..

I wouldnt say awesome.

from Wikipedia.

Following the demise of Group B and upon insistence by Toyota management, its rally entrant Toyota Team Europe used the Supra to specialise in African rallies while the later Celica took the job for the other rallies.[32] The Supra 3.0i made Toyota's Group A debut with the Supra which was capable of producing 290BHP, despite its weight and size being a clear disadvantage, driven by Björn Waldegaard, it led the 1987 Safari Rally until its final day when engine overheated.[32] The Supra scored its only win in the Hong Kong - Beijing Rally with the same driver. The NA version was shortly replaced by the 400bhp turbo version, which on its debut at the Rallye Côte d'Ivoire, the Supra led but the team withdrew when their hired Cessna 340 crashed, killing the team manager, Henry Liddon and his assistant, Nigel Harris, plus a pilot and navigator [33]. TTE would return for its African attempt for the following two years but was unable to repeat its performance and was replaced by the Celica which achieved better successes there

Welcome to supramania! Search around, there's tons of info on weight reduction, but not specifically for SCCA rules.

The most you could remove is about 350lbs with out removing the bumper supports and door bars. You also said you can't replace the glass, so make that about 230lbs :D
IMO, it isn't worth it.

How would you remove the door bars? Is it just bolted on? And much weight would I be removing from doing this? I may do remove them...

Im curious, can you replace parts with lighter ones instead of removing and still pass inspection? Like if they require AC can you put in an AC from a really small car and stuff like that? Maybe put in a passenger seat from a civic. Or do they require original stock parts for Your specific car?

What if you gut the AC and just make it look like its actually there, is that cheating lol.

I don't have much personal experience with that type of racing, but a friend of mine told me this, "The fastest car is the one who cheats the most and gets away with it."

It sounds like all non competive stuff, no real prize for winning. Itd be fun though to skirt the rule book. Like if they say you need a passanger seat and you find the smallest lightest seat and bolt it in.

Because guys like you bring it on yourself.

Do any of us participate in rally? :stickpoke

exactly

yet here are most people suffering bhg, swapping out the 7m for a 1j for reason x, and just doing silly things when the car and motor are more than capable.
