Over in the group buy forum Im running a new batch of these. The list for the next group of 10 is NOT filled yet, This is your last chance at a group buy price. So if you wanted one of these, but didnt get in line before, NOW is the time.

I know we're running out of sunny days rapidly, but I urge you to get one of these this fall because these may be the last ever made for the mk3.

Anyway, just a heads up in general chat to check out that group buy if you havent already.

Thanks - Pete

Kudos for bringing a great idea to life! Are you still thinking about a smoked Lexan roof as well? I think that'd be sick. I'm drooling over an item like that for those days when its too cold for the "Wing" (but still wanna watch the world roll by up top). I don't know anything about the process, but once the mold is done that would be the hardest part, wouldn't it?

Hey Pete,
I guess you should list the suggestions you already have, that you are planning to work on (and timeframe). That way we at least know what else we can look forward to.

Also, not to take away from what others are waiting for, but the weather's gettin' nicer and I'll be sure to sport mine, but the Fiance will start to bug you shortly for the MKIV version... She likes the topless thing too :boobies:, well...umm, I mean targa-off :naughty:

yeah, Lexan/fiberglass/canvas covers are all ideas I've toyed with. I really like the idea of either the Lexan or the canvas. The Lexan for coolness factor and being able to have a clear roof year 'round, and the canvas just for added security in the spring and fall, when you want the wings in, but need a quick cover for escaping a quick shower or going into a store and wanting a little extra security. (If I didnt already explain, the canvas cover would look like a convertable top, with full seals and bow supports, but be able to be unsnapped and rolled up for stoage)

Also been suggested to make them out of Aluminum - not gonna happen 'till at least next year.
Mk4 version - in the works already! (also looking to do them for other car makers and models)
Laser cut logos - still a possibility, but ends up being pricey...not opposed to doing it for someone who wants to pay for it.
powder coating/chrome - think Im gonna leave that up to the buyers for now, but could possibly offer it as an add on service in the future.

Sport roof bars are not the only products I have in mind. I got a couple more ideas and some drawing on the shelf that need to be finished. I am going to be registering a domain name and setting up accounts under my business name soon...not gonna spill the beans on the name just yet. Big plans in the works for me for the next 5 years...Im real glad to have you guys as my original customer base. I'll do everything in my power to not let you all down!

How is the Lexan for rigidity?

wouldnt it not matter? if the lexan cover is to be used in conjunction with the brace itll only add weather proofing.

btw, if i had a targa top i would have been one of the first to send payment!

Well, one of my concerns with lexan is how to connect it to the brace without drilling through it (weakening the structure of the lexan, and allowing a possible leak location). I assume there is some way to bond to it so a mounting system will be trial and error. I also wanted to incorporate the stock targa window seals so you would have a nearly factory look to it and have it be weatherproof, but at the same time completely custom.

There is a plastics manufacturer here in the area, but I believe they are injection molding and probably cant help. I really just want to focus on braces until I have taken care of the initial demand. Once I am beyond that I will look mmore seriously into covers.

As a side note to this topic, this weekend (Finally!) Im gonna be redoing my front lip, (now that I can weld the pieces instead of bolt them together) so Im gonna post pics of how I do it. Maybe I can offer these as a kit? dunno if people would want that or not.

Hey all, looks like there is gonna be room to get in on this next run of the group buy as I have people who havent gotten back to me to confirm they are still up for one. The price is most likely gonna go up for any made beyond this point so NOW is the time to get one!

well, Im not exactly sure what you mean by "around" but the idea I had was that it would attach in some way to the brace, and be removable from that as well. That way you could have the brace in alone, or cover it with a clear top that locks in place. In other words, the clear top would mimic the stock roof but mount to the bar instead of the car.

A couple people expressed interest and some other backed out.

This is the last time I will bump this advertisement. Its also the LAST group buy for this product. If you want to buy multiples and sell em later thats ok with me, but I need 10 sold before I can proceed to production. Currently I only have 4 deposits in line and some promises.

ABSOLUTE LAST CHANCE ON THIS!
