yeah I knew the climate control swapped out, I was just curious if any of the 89's had the older climate controls. Mainly for future reference, but Im also curious how much has been tampered with in this car....so far seems like its been untouched for the most part (or at least had factory service)

Yeah, on the water pump, Im not gonna replace it until I get a closer look at where the water is coming from. I had this really strange bad dream last night, that I discovered the water was coming out of a big hole in the head....:aigo:

The 90 degree hose. :biglaugh:

yep, you called it. I got a good look today where the leak was and its that little 90 degree hose of to the left (as your looking at it) and behind the water pump.

Now to figure out how to replace it, and where to get one!

Just go to any parts store and find one that you can cut to fit. Will cost $5-$10... I think the last time I did it, I got it for about $6.

It's a definite PITA... I hate that lil' bastard hose...

Oh and congrats on saving another one of our favorite cars!!!

yeah got the old one off...was able to back turn the bearing to get it move...but sounds like gravel inside it...the fins looked good, and the fluid coming out is clean...CQ has a lifetime new pump for 60 bucks...sometimes I hate Corvallis...but it will have to do...I wanna see this thing on the road by the weekend!

hey weezl how did you come across the information about to find this supra in the impound? I mean I'm always on the lookout for one, but when I check it out the owner usually thinks its worth some ungodly amount and will not sell cheap.

can i PLEASE have the front bumper trim??? pretty pretty please?? ;)

Tim, Im sorry but I cant let Becky have that quite yet. So far the plan to save it still stands.

I got the water pump replaced, that was no problem. I offered up the old one to the BHG Gods and jumped in to give it a try. Car started, with a jump again. Idles ok, BUT, she stumbles bad off idle. If I blip the throttle a little its ok, but any attempts to get it above 3000 RPM fail. It sounds like its suckin massive amounts of air. Havent had time to do any further diagnostics. Also, she overheated on me after maybe 10 minutes of idle and slightly off idle. Still no coolant in the oil (and the oil volume didnt change) and cant see oil in the coolant either, so Im still hopeful of a bad radiator cap or something else.

I really want to try to save this car, so I'll do a diag, check the compression and replace some more cooling system parts and go from there. If it turns out to be a BHG...I dunno...:3d_frown:

Well the back story on this car is that one day I was headed over to Albany and just outside of Corvallis I see this white Supra sitting off the road, almost in the ditch sorta. I slowed down but didnt stop. On my way back I decided to pull over and take a look at it. It had a caved in drivers fender, but otherwise looked like it wasnt wrecked or anything. I took down the licence plate and left. A couple of days later my sister (who drives that way 3 times a week) said it was gone.

A couple of weeks went by and hadnt done anything with the licence number, but was driving back from Albany on one of the alternate roads, and I see this same supra sitting inside a fenced yard. It looked like the yard was part of an auto repair place, but it was Saturday and the shop was closed, so I took down the name of the shop. On Monday I called the shop and asked about it and the guy said it wasnt his, that the lot in question belonged to a twoing company. I got the name of the towing company and called them. They said the car was a state police impound (abandoned) and that they had no further paper work on it that time. I asked the guy is they would sell it, but he said he couldnt do anything until the cops released it and they got paperwork on it. I asked him if they did get the paperwork on it would they sell it, and while he seemed hesitant to commit he said they had sold whole cars out of there before. I gave him my name and number and asked to PLEASE call me if they get the paperwork cleared and want to sell the car.

Two days ago, I get a call from the guy and he says that they have the paperwork but if Im interested in it I better hurry because he had a list of 5 people who had inquired about it (I was first on the list of people to call back :icon_bigg ). I got stuck on a TV repair job from hell that day and didnt finish until after 5:00 and they had closed already. I called the next day and told the guy I would be right over. I drove over, looked the car over pretty good and made him an offer of $400. He told me some kid had been by the day before and offered $500 ...BLEH! So I said I'll give you $600 if you deliver to my house and drop in the back yard........I had the car 30 minutes later! :biglaugh:

So thats the story...I was both providence, and dumb luck that led me to the car.
