hey weezl how did you come across the information about to find this supra in the impound? I mean I'm always on the lookout for one, but when I check it out the owner usually thinks its worth some ungodly amount and will not sell cheap.
Well the back story on this car is that one day I was headed over to Albany and just outside of Corvallis I see this white Supra sitting off the road, almost in the ditch sorta. I slowed down but didnt stop. On my way back I decided to pull over and take a look at it. It had a caved in drivers fender, but otherwise looked like it wasnt wrecked or anything. I took down the licence plate and left. A couple of days later my sister (who drives that way 3 times a week) said it was gone.
A couple of weeks went by and hadnt done anything with the licence number, but was driving back from Albany on one of the alternate roads, and I see this same supra sitting inside a fenced yard. It looked like the yard was part of an auto repair place, but it was Saturday and the shop was closed, so I took down the name of the shop. On Monday I called the shop and asked about it and the guy said it wasnt his, that the lot in question belonged to a twoing company. I got the name of the towing company and called them. They said the car was a state police impound (abandoned) and that they had no further paper work on it that time. I asked the guy is they would sell it, but he said he couldnt do anything until the cops released it and they got paperwork on it. I asked him if they did get the paperwork on it would they sell it, and while he seemed hesitant to commit he said they had sold whole cars out of there before. I gave him my name and number and asked to PLEASE call me if they get the paperwork cleared and want to sell the car.
Two days ago, I get a call from the guy and he says that they have the paperwork but if Im interested in it I better hurry because he had a list of 5 people who had inquired about it (I was first on the list of people to call back :icon_bigg ). I got stuck on a TV repair job from hell that day and didnt finish until after 5:00 and they had closed already. I called the next day and told the guy I would be right over. I drove over, looked the car over pretty good and made him an offer of $400. He told me some kid had been by the day before and offered $500 ...BLEH! So I said I'll give you $600 if you deliver to my house and drop in the back yard........I had the car 30 minutes later! :biglaugh:
So thats the story...I was both providence, and dumb luck that led me to the car.
