$200 to change plugs and wires?? wtf lol
why dont you just diy. not so hard. plugs and wires can be purchased for around $100. and its like a 15 minute job. plus while your at it you can check your ic piping for leaks and cracks

I tried, can't get the coil packs off...lack of experience with 7mgte. I have checked the IC piping and they all look good and are tight.

go back a page to see how to get the 3000 pipe off. this page is how to get the coil packs off. its rather simple. its only 4 bolts holding it. you can totally do it yourself. if you have trouble we're here to help
the wires go (from left to right on the coil pack) 1,6 3,4 2,5

dang Kevin I dunno how I just now saw this..my connection messed up yesterday when I was on, so I saw no new posts. Thanks for the link, I think I understand where I went wrong. I'll be finding out in the next couple days, I got NGK ( iridium...very $$$) plugs and wires on the way here...YAY ! So on the 30th, I'll be re-attempting this. In the meantime I polished up my strut bar and went liberal with some degreaser and cleaned up the engine bay a bit. I even cracked out the old toothbrush trick lol. I'll possibly do a vid of how she is running if I succeed at getting the NGK goodies on, I hope I do cuz that shit was expensive. I'll show my truboost going too cuz I want y'all to see it and tell me if I have a boost or vacuum leak. If this fixes it I'll reactivate the boost control function and let it do its thing, might turn out to be a interesting vid what with my BIC DDP, apexi N1 Exhaust, etc etc..and all lol. I know how everyone likes vids.

Ok since I'm new to the 7m GTE im a little confused as to what's going on with my Supra. While driving around tonight with some friends, I noticed a couple things that just don't seem right as to other MKIII's I have driven and rode in. Mine is smoking bad under boost, and the car just does'nt pull under boost like what I have experienced with other MKIII's in the past. The other issue is it died on me once when I was slowing to turn into a parking lot. It started back up right away, with a fluctuating idle for about 10 seconds, then smoothed out to the normal 1k. When I left to come home, I carefully kept a watch on my boost gauge (AEM Truboost), it showed normal and steady vacuum at cruising speed (about -19).. and positive steady boost under acceleration. I don't drive the car hard and have yet to plant my foot and hold...but I did let it spin to just shy of 5k before I shifted. Honestly the car feels normal until boost is reached... then it just feels retarded and only makes noise..and smoke. As a reference, my buddies 06 G35 (bone stock) absolutley raped me off the line on the 1 take off we did. I didnt redline it, but there was no need, he was long gone...:1zhelp:

Sorry this was so long, I guess I have boost leak.. but I hold good pressure, and I just checked all the IC piping 2 days ago. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Mods for reference:

BIC DDP, stock CT26 and piping, RPS Stage 3 Clutch, 3' Exhaust to Apexi N1,
OBX Cam gears, K & N Air Filter, FAL dual-electric fans. Boost controller set to 8 psi.
same thing happened to me the seals in the turbo went out thus sending oil down the intake hence your smoke while boosting, either a rebuild or a new turbo is probably in order as to the stall sounds like a knock sensor issue or knock sensor circuit did you pull a code?

Sorry took so long to reply. Yea got the plugs and wires in, and wow she runs so much better...but...I'm having other issues with fuel delivery. So I wont do a vid just yet.

Yea code 31 is AFM, or ECU..:aigo:. God I hope it's not the ecu...

Misadjusted TPS ?.. It just mounts up to the side of the throttle body.

Yea check your ISC according to the TSRM
to make sure its in right, mine was idling the exact same
way, And while ording a Air filter for the afm i asked the guy
if he had an extra ISC laying around and he threw it in
for an extra $5, Got it in a few days, replace the ISC with
the one the guy gave me and it fixed every single problem i had
as far as boosting and idle...

Mine would idle normal them drop down to 200-300 rpms
then shoot up to 2000rpms then back down. And it wouldnt
start up right away. The ISC fixed both.

Just a suggestion

thanks Failure14. I just pulled the AFM electronics box off..had a bit of dirt/gunk on the little element that sticks into the AFM housing. Put it back on and I still have a crazy idle and trying to stall. I'm headed to the ISC area....

Keep us posted, seems im having several issues that you are having,

to add i have irregualr boost delivery(shuddering upon acceleration) and the same idle issues you have mentioned plus the car seems very lean.

Ok so I checked the ISC piping..pulled the vaccum lines off and did'nt see any dirt or anything, so I put it back on and reconnected everything. Started the car up and it fired immediately with idle right at 1k ????..LOL I dont get it. What the hell is this intermediate shit ? I gotta buddy's AEM Uego wideband sitting in my tool cabinet, I think I'm gonna go put it in my DP (already have available bung there) and see what it's reading at. I'll post back up with what the gauge is reading.

First I would check your timing. Just something always good to check when diagnosing problems. It takes 5 seconds.

Next to me it sounds/looks like a bad AFM or a boost / vac leak.

Start reading here
http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?S=FI&P=95

and read threw FI-100 for checking AFM and setting the TPS. If your afm is bad it will make your car idle like that. I have had the same thing happen to me only I forgot to plug it in, and my sup idled like that, lol

Also set you TPS just for the fact of having it right. I drove my sup with a improperly adjusted TPS for 1500-2,000 miles with no problems besides the CEL being on.

One other idea is to find a local supra owner, ask him to drive his car over to your house and ask him if you can use him AFM quick to make sure yours is good/bad. It takes about 5 min to swap and test. Offer him a couple beers also for the help ;)

you can get from toyota a new diaphram and gasket for your iscv. if it has a tear in it, it will be a boost leak as well. but its definatly gotta be in the iscv or maf. i unplugged mine to see what it would do...and it seems i was sitting in your car all the sudden! hahaha. there not to terribly expencive. i may even have a spare you can have.

i know exactly how you feel. i have a 87 toyota supra 5spd turbo and ive gone and done all maintenance with driftmotion. they say it runs perfect i upgraded turbo to 57 trim spark plugs valve covers all maintenance blah blah blah. but i still feel like my take off is SLOWWWW like i can get burned by a corolla. but im scared to shift to second after 4k...seems like i ll break the car if i do. never taken the car beyond 5k rpm..only time i feel the pull is prolly 3rd gear and 4th. 2cnd gear is alright. but then again ive never really floored it. i was wondering myself if there was something wrong. maybe one ofo the cylinders...who knows i wanna get it loked at though :: angry ::

Can I really check my timimg with a Aftermarket crank pulley? I have seen the degree markings down there, but no notch on the pulley itself. My Supra holds boost well, so I would lean more towards the AFM. If I change it though, I would rather go ahead and get the Lex AFM. At the moment I dont have a CEL on. Only local Supra owners here is a car club buddy but his MKIII does'nt run, so he is in worse shape than me. I might can swap his AFM though, I'm gonna give him a buzz.

If you gotta spare, that would rock. I have no objection to you coming and sitting in my car...lol. That way we can share the irritation...hahaha.

I feel ya man.

OK, so I hooked up my bro's wideband, just a temporary rig-up under the hood, so don't laugh. Watch the vid and tell me what y'all think. I apologize in advance for the crappy sound, but all I got is my cell phone to do this with.

Running w/ wideband- Idle, then about 3k, then a quick rev to WOT, then back to idle
