Well, here's the story, to make it short, our bank stole over 8,000$ from our grandpa, we took them to court and we won 12,900$ back!
Here's the story.
As some of you may or may not know, my grandmother recently passed away about 5-6 months ago, and we got about 8,000$ in life insurance put in my grandpa's bank account. So knowing my grandpa has Alzheimer's, my mom and step-dad became power of attorney. We took the money and paid off most of his bills including credit card debt. Well this is where the hell begins.
We used checks to pay off all the debt he was in, and halfway through getting all his stuff payed for, the bank calls us and tells us the bank account is frozen.. So all the checks written are labeled as insufficient funds (The account is frozen, no money goes in or out). So we ended up paying over 3,000$ for the checks that didn't go through.
We call the bank to see why the fuck our account is frozen, they said the account activity has been monitored and the rate of withdraw is over normal. So we call the lawyer and he says that nothing can be done until an investigation is done.
So the adult protective services (I think) conducts a investigation to see if my grandpa is competent. He passes the test and the account is STILL FROZEN! So we tell them if they don't un-freeze the account they will be taken to court. Well knowing we didn't have the time or money for court we give it 2 more months and yup... STILL FROZEN!!
So, we file the paperwork to have the account unfrozen from our lawyer and FINALLY! No longer frozen. So we start getting back to paying off the bills, and we check the amount in the account and the total amount is 12 DOLLARS!!!!!
So we go to the bank, and they claim that, that was the amount that was in the account the entire time. We get pissed, take their asses to court, and we settle for 12,900$
So we spend 2k on the Supra, get the rest of the bills payed off and now we're living life happily!
The car is taken to Meineke today. We had the exhaust leak fixed, the power steering leak fixed, new plug wires installed, new brake pads, new neutral safety sensor, A/C fixed, new valve seals, new head gasket, new oil pan gasket, new alternator, wheel bearings re-packed with grease, differential fluid changed, new radiator fan, and last but not least the temperature gauge fixed.
