I have water vapor comming from the breather tubes on each valve cover and was hoping for some input as to what might be going on. The engine has a fresh rebuild and we used a cometic mhg and arp bolts. The oil is clear and the coolant has no oil in it. Please help

Considering the God forsaken climate there (I used to live on Timberhill) it's probably just condensation...

I think, after looking a little closer, it is exaust vapor. Not as much water as I thought.

Right after shutdown if i remove my oil cap there is a pretty good amount of steam/smoke (not sure which) that comes out. I assume its just steam from condensation. I have no head gasket problems and it has always done this.

I agree with JJ and Cy and it's probably just condensation. I have had the same thing on my IC piping and TB when I removed them last week. This is what I get for heating and cooling my garage in the winter :(

im not an expert, but smoke/steam coming from the valve covers doesnt seem normal. i know i dont have anything like that

Sure it is, especially considering where the OP lives like JJ said. Plus, want to guess what one of the major byproducts of combustion is?

i know steam is a byproduct.... but i picture smoke, like oil heating up too much from excessive friction.
i just know that when i take off my oil cap after driving, nothing comes out

Its definately exaust (very low moisture) recirculating thru the block. The source feeding the valve covers is the hose attached to the v. cover just under the oil cap.

One of the many reasons short trips in the car are the worst- that condensation will not have enough time to evaporate out of the oil if the motor is not run at operating temperature for long enough. :)

Some of what you describe is normal, as previously mentioned. Regular short trips will increase the amount.
