In the event I can't come up with a new (or at least much better condition) stock wastegate for my CT26, do you think that a competent machine shop should be able to do a weld-up and grind to repair the cracks around the port in the wastegate I currently have? And do you think such a repair would hold up under normal driving (only getting REALLY happy with the throttle every so often)?

Second question, who do you recommend for turbo rebuilds since MDC is unfortunately no longer in the biz? I've heard recommendations for Blaast Performance.

Thanks everyone...

Or, if anyone has any idea's besides welding up those cracks, please let me know what else might work.

Doubt it, that's cast, it's not going to respond well to welding. I'm no metal expert, but would the welds melt down when the turbo's running all out?

You'd be better off sourcing a better condition turbine.

goto driftmotion and buy a 57 trim not a bad price either

Not a bad price at all, just a little more than I can manage right this moment. Know anyone who has a trashed ct26 with a decent wastegate?

not off hand. try posting in the WTB section and browse the mkIII parts for sale section

Been there and done that. Talking to one member right now about a wastegate he's willing to part with, just gotta wait til he gets back up with me on it. If that buy goes through okay, then the turbo goes off to be rebuilt.
