Hello everyone I am new to the supra scene I have a 87 NA 5PD.

Okay well here's my problem I searched on the forums before I posted I couldnt find anything I am sorry if there is a post sum where on here and I couldnt find it I am a newb =[.

Yesterday I washed my engine (gunk degreaser and a water hose) before I did that the car ran fine. after I did all the washing let the car sit for about 2hours and then hand dried it. the car started but idled @ 1500 and would jump to 2k after a little while of driving the idle went back to normal @ 900.. got home parked the car went to sleep.. this morning while trying to take my son to school, the car started, started shaking and then died.. on the 2nd start up the car idled really low and when I got it in 1st gear and pressed on the gas RPMS would go up and move very very slowly and in 2nd it did the same. I checked the codes and only got 42, I know thats because my speedo does not work.
also while checking my spark plugs to see if they where wet I noticed there was alot of oil in there is that normal? please help me must get car fixed missed work today =[

No thats not normal, clean out the oil in the spark plug galley if any replace the plugs and find out why you have oil on them (Does your car smoke on start up?). When you washed the motor i hope you covered up all the electronics.

I ran into something similar when I cleaned the engine bay in my 86, the car would sputter and run like crap. It was because the water filled the spark plug galley and was dispersing the spark. It may be possible its the same with yours, only a oil and water mix, pull the plug wires out and put some rags or paper towels in the galley and see if they absorb any liquids.

If theres only oil in there then you need to get new o-rings to put under the big allen key bolts, that should stop the oil leaking if thats where its coming from. Good luck!!

I meant smoke of any kind, as for the Y-Pipe its pretty straight foward take some pictures if youre unsure of yourself. Bag your bolts too.

I use a shopvac to suck the water out of the plug wells when I wash my engine.
In fact, I don't even run the sheetmetal cover over the plugs.

I wash my engine about every 2 months.
No oil, but a lot of road grime.

I hold a piece of tubing over the end of the shopvac,
stick it down along side of the plug,
and suck the wells dry.
