so i wanted to put cams on the 1j but found out theyre not going to do much good with stock twins. so im moving on to bigger and better things and had the idea of nos. im not looking to make huge power, prob around a 50 shot. need some ideas on what some good brands are and if how safe ill be with just a 50 shot. thanks

My freind that is a mechanic told me that for the most part, a stock engine that is in good running condition can handle a 50 shot set up. I would'nt go any higher than that though unless you wnat to replace the piston rings and other things on the bottom end.

i'm sure a 1jz can hold more than a 50 shot if it can handle up to 700 hp

anyways i have a nitrous express kit and i like it... there are other kits like NOS which is what my brother has that is good too... if your looking for a kit with a good bottle warmer i would stay away from zex... i heard their bottle warmer sucks!

Nos is a brand name, nitrous oxide is what you would install on your engine. Saying "i have nos on my 1j" is just going to get you flamed. (just fyi)

Installing a nitrous system is the same as upping boost. It can be done safely if your setup is TUNED correctly. I'm sure if you do your homework, make sure your engine is running well, and get a good tune you'll be able to safely run much more than a 50 shot.

I'm assuming your planning on upping the boost if you havent already. Why not look into turbo upgrades and swap something else in before the twins self destruct. If your on a budget, you can buy/make an adapter and run a CT26 on the factory manifold. Driftmotion sold this adapter, wether or not they still do IDK. A 50 shot of nitrous will get things spooling up and up your power tho.

EDIT: All with supporting fuel mods and tune of course.

thanks for the help guys. i am on a budget and wanted to install nitrous instead of going single because its cheaper. i want to do everything correctly and i have but i still have a few questions. i have a AEM FIC and am going to use that to activate the nitrous when it is armed. something like .... at 95% or higher throttle, above 5 psi, and above 3500 the aem will activate the nitrous for example. ive read that alot of ppl use nitrous to spool up their turbo quicker. what i want to do is have the nitrous for more power, not to just spool up the turbos since im still running the stock turbos and they have full spool at 3k. thanks

You're lucky that hundred shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake................. Now me and the mad scientist gotta rip apart the block, and replace the piston rings you fried! :p

With how rich factory 1JZ maps are, why can't you run a shot higher than a 50? I would have said a 75-100 shot right away.

Is a 50 shot even worth it?
