apologies if you took my post as some sort of advice...mine was really just to give you an idea of such cost.
ij is right, i havnt quite made it there yet if you didnt get that from my post so please dont take my setup as being bulletproof, there are a lot of different ways to make huge power on the 7m, and like he says, you just have to find the reputable people on here...duane comes to mind>upgradedsupra

I come from a land down under
Please don't take my post as a slap, I've been asked quite a few times by the big dogs for advice and I've always added the caveat "I've never built a 7M and taken it past 550rwhp" .

It's just there have been so many failures here recently a large percentage of our members shouldn't be giving engine building advice as once past 400rwhp you're playing with a lot of $$$ and a potential time bomb if you get it wrong.

i know exactly what you mean, i didnt take it personally as you were talking to me but just thought id clarify to the op as to my posting

i know how this place can get with bad advice given, its just another reason i come here quite often for tech.

though, SF will always be my true home though... too much entertainment i suppose.

I do appreciate everyone stepping up with advice for me, I'm trying to take everything in and make a educated decision on what I'd like to do, and how to do so. I think the biggest part of building a engine for my car is the budget, i want to have everything laid out and on paper instead of just buying tons of parts that I do not need, nor do I have any reason buying. So all advice helps. And IJ I appreciate you pointing me in the direction I need to go in. Talking to people who have done what I plan to do will obviously make my options and objectives clearer. Thanks for all the help guys.

So Cal
Compton 74 check out the build section in this forum theres realy good info. I have spent countless days just going throught page and page and learned alot from peoples mistake and achivments. Also take my advice on the 2j swap. Like some people have said they stayed 7M because they had parts already on hand but unlike you your fresh and IMO you should save up for the 2j. Or even look into going 2j NA-T. People are putting 600hp on stock internals useing 7m eletronics. If you ever get to look at a 2j you ll notice how big the cams look stock there beefy lil bump sticks. the vavles I belive are 1mm bigger than a stock 7m (not competely sure i been out of the game for a while) so why spend 600 bucks for bigger vavles on a 7m when stock 2js are bigger wether its na or gte . Also the cooling is much improved. You want to save money go 2j NA-T trust me you will never look back.

P.S If I am wrong in any info i have given please feel free to correct me.

I see a lot of advice being given by people that have never built a "reliable high power 7m "....

My suggestion on this is listen to people that have actually achieved the goal required and ignore all the hearsay.

I daily drove a high powered 7m for a few months. And I just had to see what she could do with 30psi and 7500rpms in top gear. And lost a frost plug so much for it being reliable while sustaining high power for any amount of distance.
Although it never did leave me stranded or fail to start......
The only part on the engine that I did not personally install was the frost plugs...

My advice would be to take it to someone who knows what they are doing and pay up.
Also I listed all my engine specs and what not in this thread.
