to my what appears to be a POS shell and seeing what I want the final product to be in my head just gives me the biggest smile and excitement. Most people would take a look at it and wonder why I'm throwing tons of money at it and I could never explain how rewarding it is to me. I can honestly say I love my car, I know its just an object but its just like a painter admiring / loving art he or someone else made. I'd say the most rewarding thing about building a car is doing it exactly how you want it to be done. I recommend everyone here doesn't settle for things they dont want because in the end doing what you want is far more rewarding. I don't know what the point to my thread is but I just wanted to share my love and apperciation for my POS shell thats being sitting for 2 years. Don't ever expect me to sell. ( And its my first car ).

That IS a Supra owner^^^lol!

I know exactly what you're talking about, nobody can understand why I put up with my car's shenanigans, they are always telling me that I need to sell it for something less expensive, and more reliable...ugh, they just DO NOT UNDERSTAND!!!

everybody tells me I put too much money into my car... I could NEVER put too much money into my supra... every penny that goes to it is for a good cause and has a reason behind it... Walking the 15 foot walk from my car to the back door of my work, I took 3 seperate looks at my car and stood there for a couple minutes each time in awe of how beautiful it is.... Nobody can understand it unless they own one of these amazing cars... And when I wake up in the morning and walk into the kitchen, through the front door I can see the awesome pre 89 mk3 front end staring at me, just begging to be driven... I love it.

Same things here. There was a lot of head shaking when I bought a 15 year old car with over 180K miles and in need of a little love. Repaired upholstery, new wheels, and countless things under the hood replaced, and now I'm getting some approval nods and there will be more when she's painted.

I check out my car from different angles every time I park, walking away from it and back to it. The other day I even parked it in the lot next to the one close to the building so I could look at it while I ate lunch at the picnic table at work. My wife's tired of hearing about my car, too. I think I've got the Supra sickness real bad.

I park it right by the picnic table at work so I can go out on my smoke breaks and check out my beauty... I park it at different angles so I can enjoy a new view almost every day... I always park it where I can see it, not to make sure somebody doesnt break into it (well that too..) but just to be able to see it, to remind myself why I'm doing this... when I look at it at work, it reminds me why I am working my ass of in a 100F kitchen in the middle of summer... new paint I say..... new rims I say... new interior... new motor... even new tail lights get me through my day haha....

Thats the thing. I feel exactly how you do.

I can't even explain it much, but just looking at my car is rewarding. Others laugh at the 87 toyota, and i just smile, knowing it a representation of me and all my hard work.

the heat you take for driving an old car is all worth it when it comes to the supra. no other car out there can even compare. people are always asking why i would drive an old car that cost so much money to maintain and why bother and all i have to say is..it's a supra thats why

Hmm... gotta say that my car has costed overally(maintaining) less than a new car(as much as a car from mini-class), so is there really a point in buying a new car? No, I say. + what cartel said:icon_bigg

I have always loved the supra...always!

When I was in High School a buddy of mine drove a 77 celica LB. It was a great car and we had alot of good times in it. My senior year, the Mk2 came out! we were both like OMG! its beautiful! and a 6banger! but neither of us could afford it of course. My senior year I bought the closest thing I could afford, a 76 Celica GT coupe.

Fast forward to the early 90's and things were different for me. I was newly married and graduated from College...I could afford a Supra now! Mk4 was way out of my range, mk3's were on the high side, but a nice mk2 was right were I could afford the car and some upgrades. I bought an 84 in steel blue, and the love affair began. I loved the car.

financial status changed over the next few years, and I was forced to sell it and I bought a 73Celica from a wrecking yard for $400 and a new love affair started. I kept that car for another 10 years, she was my baby! and I swore I would NEVER sell her! One very long trip from NM to OR changed my mind on that, she was burning 2 quarts a tank and with no A/C and no power steering (not even rack), no power options of any kind, and me hitting 42 years...I decided it was time for something more befitting my age, and some more civilized to drive.

I got what I always wanted...a MK3 Supra....and NEW LOVE AFFAIR has started, and an obsession is beginning to grow as well. Yes I too am one of those guys who looks back at his car when going into a store, as if to say..."Dont worry baby I'll be back....you're Beatiful, I could never leave you."

It´s so fun being a Supra owner looking throu these kind of posts. Because you ALWAYS recognize your self!

I look at my car several times a day, sometimes just because I like it but more often thinking about what to do next to help her on her way to perfection. :) New taillights? New paint? what color? Engine mods? (pops the hood to look) FFi? Ic? etc etc.

Owned my car for little over a year now and done ALOT of things to her, and it´s so much fun! Everything comes back tenfold!

Just the other day someone wrote I owed them a new keybord and a mouse because the keys stuck together after watching some fotos of my car! :D

I guess what I´m trying too say is like all above already said: I love my car!!

i used to work at albertsons and my co-worker always nagged at me about fixing up and old car. everyday, it was the same thing "just buy a new car" "why are you wasting your money on that old p.o.s.?" and its just people like that that make me want to fix it up and prove him that he's wrong...its like regardless of what people say...im never gonna give in to their shit...

ive only owned my supra for about 9 months...and the guy that owned it before didnt even take care of it...and i put countless days into working on it and it pays off everytime i see my car...my paint might be faded and i may have a few dings here and there...but it runs GREAT...and fact is...its my car...i love my car...i always tell my uncle that my supra comes with more standard features that most newer cars, even HIS...and then he shuts up....LOL

That its. It's just a good car, regardless of age. lol I too use that argument about more features, because most people wouldnt ever know.

All she's done lately is sit in the garage and sleep. I'm sad when she sleeps, and i'm half tempted to wake her. But, theres no need to, because every time I go out in the garage, I stare at her and she puts a smile on my face.
haha idk, but yeah im proud of her regardless.

My friends and family are the same, most of them don't know the true potential of these vehicles. They were made back in the day of true sports cars, not the modern econobox with a special hood and a big ass fin on the back.

That and even with cylinder 1 down to 30 psi of compression the Sup runs better than all of the newer cars in the family, so I think they're just all jealous :icon_surp

I've been in love with the Mark III since my best friends dad picked us up from school in it, and if we asked real nice he'd chirp the tires and things like that, I know have the privilage of owning that very car, and I don't think I could ever bring myself to sell it, and I look forward to the day when its finally back in tip top shape :)
