So what happens if we done have one of these?

it allows a small amount of air to blow by and burn the fuel still left over. just helps smooth the transition , is all. you should be fine w/o it

Actually could someone post a pic pointing in the general direction of where it goes on an engine in a car? sorry for double post.

EDIT: NVM I believe I found where it goes. The tube it sticks on the end of has a very thin hole I must say. Ran the car, seems happy with it. Thanks guys

If you are staring at your throttle linkage, you will see where it plugs in. If you still need help after that, I will post a pic up later when I'm at my car.

Stealthy Edit: Better yet, check this out.

I believe I got it. I used this picture:

http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?Section=EC&P=8

Basically behind the throttle body I found the disc like thing and shoved it on there. It probably came out due to my mechanic wailin on the engine (for testing purposes lol) and the fact one of my engine mounts is busted, so engine jumps and it gets pulled/knocked out.

My apologies for not using a better page. But, yeah, that's the one. Make sure it's on the right way, it does matter what color goes on what side.

Making solid motor mounts is easier, and possibly cheaper, than buying a new or used set of factory mounts. Just something to look into.

Look at the picture in the posted link.

1) Throttle comes off idle. Dashpot plunger is released. Since it's spring loaded it pulls the diaphragm upward. That cause a vacuum on the opposite side. Atmospheric pressure freely flows through the little filter and delay valve to equalize that volume.

2) Throttle is lifted. Plunger and diaphragm are depressed. Air flows back out through the delay valve but is restricted by a bleed hole, slowing equalization and thus slowing plunger movement. Think of it as a check valve with a tiny hole in the return direction because that's what it is. Therefore it must be installed in a certain orientation. Be sure the filter isn't clogged.

Just blow through it. One way will be easy the other will be hard. The easy way goes towards the dashpot. And after you get it all installed you'll need to adjust it correctly. See the TSRM.

Just popped it back on, is that ok? Last year my emissions were fine, but just took it to be tested today and it failed. Surely this is not something that affects this?

It's an emissions device. However I'm unaware of any emissions test procedure other than the IM240 drive cycle where the dashpot would be involved. Without looking I'm guessing Georgia employs the ASM test where speeds are held constant. In that case the dashpot is moot.
