So today I went and decided to get my windows tinted. The place had a special going, 85 dollars lifetime warranty. So I went. And it went down hill from there....

I told the guy do 20% all the way around (except the front). I leave my car in the back while he does the tint and am waiting up front. I get bored So I check on the progress. When I walked back to my suprize, the guy was eating in my car (I dont even eat in my car) and was putting on 5% tint. WAY TO DARK. He was basically done, and I had been there for 2 hrs so I left the tint on and got in and drove home. I get home, and notice my driver side window is leaning. It isnt sealing on the top. So I get out and notice that the window now has a gap from the seal (black thing on the bottom of the window on the outside.) to the window. Im talking like almost an inch gap. So I take it back and the guy tells me that all cars suffer from that, that it must have been like that when I brought it in. Well it wasnt, so I know he fucked it up. My guess is, is that the plastic that holds th window on the arms to roll it up, got crushed while they were tinting the windows. Time to go to toyota...

So now I have to worry about getting a nice ticket, and I have to pull on the back of my driver window so it rolls up as straight as it can. What a day....

Its not worth it. If I get a warning to change my tint Ill peel off part of it. And they have a lifetime warranty so then Ill have them put on 20%. As for the window tilt, there is a thread on here on how to fix it, but I cant remember the name of it. So if anyone knows how to fix the window, or has the link on how to fix it, let me know please. I looked and couldnt find it.

Just a quick question, did the guys who installed the window tints tell you to not roll down your windows for a certain period of time? Im not telling you, im asking you.

Correct me if im wrong, i thought you weren't suppose to roll down the windows for a certain period of time?

Yes they told me I shouldnt roll it down. I rolled it down maybe an inch so I could pull on the back of the window to make sure it would seal with the targa.

Id rather lose the warranty on my tint then have it rain and soak my interior.

The guys said 24hrs, but I always give it an extra day, just to be safe.

I come from a land down under
And here's why I won't tint windows.....

IF you keep the windows tight it marks up the tint in weeks, if you run them loose enough not to mark the tint they wobble if not fully up or down, toss into that mix the damage some installers do to prevent rubbing especially on an old car like a Mk3 where spares are getting difficult to buy and its a no brainer for me..
