hey all, my tranny is starting to go out the door, im wondering if any of the sponsors sells a complete rebuild kit for it. id like to replace the syncros (5th has always given me trouble, now 1st, 2nd and 3rd are too) and probably put a street clutch on it as a basic upgrade from stock.

if not, would i be better off picking up an r154 and rebuilding it (if a kit is available)?

what are my options here?

Why would you put an R154 on an NA. You do have an NA I assume, ok yea your profile says you do. So why would you go for the tough shifting R154? The W58 holds plenty of power, and it shifts so much smoother than the R154.
Rebuild the W58 and be done with it, unless your planing on putting a gte in your car later on down the road, but even then I wouldnt worry about getting a R154 till it was that time.

Definitely stay with the W58. I've got one mated to my 1G-GTE and for the most part it has been great. Plus it weighs less then the R154!

deadcell, if it costs an arm and a leg for me to rebuild the w58 and i can get a rebuilt r154 or rebuild one for cheaper than i can rebuild my w58, thats what ill go with. thats just a matter of cost, and id put up with the r154 if i had to.

id love to rebuild my w58 but can't find a kit to reubild it. any ideas?

oscolivar - i was asking the public on that one, i had read a thread recently where a guy sent his w58 to marlin crawler for a rebuild but didn't hear the total cost.

True, but where are you going to get a fully rebuild AKA pretty much brand new R154 for less than what its going to cost you to rebuild the W58?

W58 is going to be wayyyyyy cheaper.

only reason im still clueless is because i havent found a rebuild kit for the w58. like i said before, ive only found a r154 rebuild kit for $225 on MDC's site. would marlin cralwer carry a kit, or could they put one together for me? or would they just take the tranny and do a rebuild for me?
