It will work for quite some time, if you are not abusive. It all depends on the condition of the one you get as well.

Also, if you don't mind changing one if it breaks then there is nothing wrong with having it in.

dr j broke his at 363 i belive???

nope.

480rwhp finally killed it after 3ish yrs of 310rwhp. it's ALL in how you treat it, type of oil used and how the prev. owner treated it.

the W58 is a far better trans....just too bad it's so weak. :(

I 100% agree with dr jones on this one. i am running a w58 in my car till my new motor goes in. i am on 13 psi out of a ct-26 60-1 and 3" exhaus , fuel upgraded intake, ect. i have been driving it for 6-7k with royal purple and i couldnt be happier with it. shifts nice and no grindes. i have put the car sideways mid way into 3rd gear a few times. normaly i drive very nice to the car but you have to show it who is boss every once and a while.

Around
i've been running a w58 behind my 7mgte for around 2 years now, along with a clutchmasters stage 3, and a fidanza lightweight flywheel.

i'm currently over 300rwhp, and it's still holding fine. i treat it right when i'm just driving it around, but usually when i'm in my car, i'm flogging on it. (that's due to the insanely slow/no torque 22re powered daily driven 4x4 pickup;))

i have an r154 in my garage, just waiting til i blow the w58 to put it in. :) though, i'd like to find a nicer shifting tranny than the r154 and adapt that. i love the silky smooth shifts of the w series.
