I picked up a w58 transmission from an '84 n/a Supra after having picked up a w58 bellhousing from an '88 Supra and I'm having the same problem...it doesn't line up with my motor. I can only get one of the top bolts in and can't really tell at this point if I can get anymore than 1 on either side. And the starter only has one bolt hole to use. Ideas?:aigo::1zhelp:

That's my motor. You probably can't see, but where the "horns" stick out on both sides in the rear, they leave big windows to see the flywheel. I don't get it. Maybe someone else has better pics of proper fitment. I'll get some more of my issue in the morning.

There are two black steel plates that go behind the block and infront of the fw....put them on....the bottom one won't stay on unless you bolt the trans on at the same time (it's a bitch, I know this cause that fucker fell out and gave me a black eye while putting my new trans in!)....why didn't you get a w58 from a mkiii instead of a mkii?

LOL, shit. Only a paintball mask woulda saved you from that one, eh?
I just posted a listing for a w58 trans and that's what I got. I drove 250 miles to get it and found out afterwards that they came out of an MKII. You wouldn't happen to have reference pics would ya?

Apparently I'm mildly retarded. I was working by myself on one side of my truck and got the dowel lined up with a hole and popped it in. From my side it looked alright. From the back it didn't really look like it was off center, but it was way off to the passenger side. Deeerrrrrr
Thanks again. Totally forgot about the plates though.
Btw, I didn't have the flywheel or clutch in for reference...it was just mock up to make sure I tubbed the firewall enough.

Yup those are it!

What is this talk of firewall tubbing? Is this 7m and trans going in a diff car? If so your ass best have a build thread:)

Yeah, it is. It's called a Civota. This is it tore down a little and with the 22re still in it:

ahhhhh what!!!!

Ugh, where to begin? It's a '93 Toyota Minitruck bodydropped 4"s. I converted the frontend to a '98 Honda Civic and I swapped in a 7mge and W58 trans and modified the Supra dash to fit in my truck as well. I also have the MKIII IRS that will go in after I get all the drivetrain buttoned up.

Never thought I'd do a build thread on a Supra site...imagine that. Maybe I'll make one on ToyotaMinis.com, lol. Anyhow, here's a few pics I have on this computer:

Those wheels kill it but that seriously looks like it has potential!

Wish I still had my 86 Toyota pickup with a 22r...I'd buy yours from ya if it was forsale!

Yeah, I sold my old 18's cause the rubber was too big so when it lays out it actually rested on the tire.
And I sold the engine for $1200 with a BHG. Loved that motor though.
Wait another month till the motors complete and running, the beds on and it's sittin' in the grass layed out on the frame...nothing beats that.

Hmm grass and steel don't mix...hope it doesn't start to rust! I'd make some nylon pucks to bolt to the frame so you can rest it on pavement without scraping! If you're into frame draging make titanium pucks instead...all the boys will be jealous when your sparks are 100,000,000 x brighter than theirs!
