Hi as the tiitle suggests i want some info on the what bits and pieces are needed to put a w58 behind the 7mgte....

what bellhousing?
any custom bits?
w58 shifter location once in the ma70?

or is it all just a bolt up affair??

im in Australia and the w58 box i use will either be from a mk4 NA sup or a 2.0tt mk3 sup... i know the mk4 is a better option but i just want the easiest / quickest option....

i appreciate any help...

cheers...

I don't think the W58 from a 5-speed Supra would be a good option - I believe it's cable shifted, and the bellhousing pattern would be for that of a 2JZ engine. The W58 and bellhousing from a 5-speed NA Supra [7M-GE] would probably be best.

sorry man, here is a site that you may find useful for your swap. Here is a direct quote about the mk3 w58 and the 7mgte Click me

"As far as transmission choices, you can reuse whatever trans your NA had. The W58 (NA 5 speed) will bolt up to the 7M-GTE w/no problems (just use the NA flywheel/clutch assembly). The NA auto trans is basically the same as the turbo auto trans, just some subtle differences in the clutch packs, etc. to hold the extra power. If you do have an auto trans you might want to think about rebuilding it or replacing it w/a 5 speed as it will hold only about 300rwhp. The W58 should hold upwards of 400rwhp and the sky is the limit w/the R154."

You guys.. you are talking about the W58 from a MkIII Supra.. not a MkIV NA's W58. The reason that the MkIV NA cannot use the same short shifter as the MkII and MkIII's is because it shifts different than these other ones - it's cable shifted, where the others are direct linkage.

Gearstick need to be the most reward spot (stitting over uni joint Pic #5 )

wat are the plus sides to using the w58 as a posed to the r154? would you get faster acceleration with a 58 or 154?

I come from a land down under
W58 shifts nicer but isn't as strong as the 154.

Ratios are close enough that I doubt you'd see a difference.

--W58---- R154
1:3.29---- 1:3.30
2:1.89---- 2:1.95
3:1.28---- 3:1.34
4:1.00---- 4:1.00
5:0.78---- 5:0.75
