isnt that a 2001 supra with a 2jz vvti 6speed? what trans would they use in a 1998 + supras if not the 6 speed?

the red one is the later model vvti 2jzgte, you can tell by the guage cluster and auto trans

the black one is a non vvti model either 2jzge or 2jzgte

this car right here is vvti as well.... notice the gauge cluster and the shift buttons on the steering wheel....

it's a pain.... I'll never go vvti unless I have the level of support to get to my power goals. Plus you'll spend so much more on part and electronic to get to were you want it. And at the end of the day you'll still get smoke by a non vvti.
Hell a 1j...LOL

LOL 1JZ's are getting to be king of the hill around here in FL. Took it only 15 years to be recgonized for it's power potential and extremely long powerband :)

Didn't read the rest of the thread... I had one in my 90 and it came from a 1999 JDM Supra and the engine harness was NOT for an auto... the 6-speed was sold, before I got the engine. They did come in the JDM 1999-2002 Supras and many were 6-speed.

I can't access my online storage on Yahoo right now, but I have pics/video of it in. The only real challenge people may encounter is if the ECU has the immobilizer option, but missing the original key.

Drive by wire and VVTi technology was fine and there are now quite a few people who know what they are doing, for tuning standalones. The stock ECU is good up to about 650HP is what I've heard. So, unless you're going for big power beyond that, don't B skurred.

leave the valve stuff for the honda fanboys... get a non vvti motor that works

lol yes...

the drive by wire needs some fancy pedal assembly with a sensor or something, the guys i am using for my swap said that its a potential nightmare.

The throttle body still has the linkage for the cable. The unit can be removed. I just had mine disconnected. Somewhere in the wiring, I had a voltage leak whenever I left it plugged in. Like it was getting power, even when the car was off. Please do search for VVTi in this forum and you will find ALOT more info and not just "what I heard." There's not any more involved than with any other 2J... 'cept finding the right upper radiator hose to use with that hump. I heard the 98+ hose for a VVTi equipped Toyota would work, but had a regular one "somewhat" working for awhile.

Here a short vid of the start up... http://www.geocities.com/g099521/Frankie.WMV
