Ok I looked at my data plate on my mk3 n/a supra and the date for manufacturing said 86 on the drivers door, but my title sais 87. I am confused also appears that some things are not right with my vin number.

I dont know if i am supposed to post it but I need to know that everything is ok. Also if anyone could help me decode what all the numbers mean will help.

The date in the door is when the car was built. They start building them several months before they release the car as the next year's model, so it's normal that it was built in 86. The year on the underhood emissions sticker normally displays the model year of the car (assuming it's the original hood). Also, it's in the VIN number. The 10th digit in the USA is for the year. H is 1987, so you're ok there.

The rest of the VIN.... the J means it was built in Japan, the T means it's a Toyota, the 2 means it's a passenger car, the M means the car came with an M series engine (a 7MGE in your case) and the A70 is the chassis code, which is the code for a third generation Supra... and the rest is unimportant.
