Very Bad MISS - HELP

Hey all
I have a 1G-GTE with a 4424 Stinger.
I have put this thread in the 7M-GTE section as I am using 7M injectors, ignitor and coils.
I have a "very" bad miss from 2,300rpm right up till around 5,000 rpm when full boost is reached and the miss seems to go away a little. I say a little because you can still hear and slightly feel the miss through the wastegate but after 5,000 rpm its not as bad as early on. It will be robbing a fair bit of power tho.

I have tried a different set of coils but the problem remains. How often do 7M coils crack? Out of 6 I've only been able to get 2 that have no cracks and the 3rd has a small one.....

I have not tried a different ignitor yet - should I?
I have another set of injectors - I have not tried this option yet - should I?
I have tried new spark plugs and new leads - no change.

Aaron maybe you've come across this?
It wouldn't have anything to do with the diode ignitor setup thingy that we have to do to get the 7M ignition to work on the Stinger??

Any suggestions or thoughts?

How do your plugs look? Is it totally RPM dependent or is it load dependent?

I will take them out tonight and have another look. Last time I looked they were pretty good.

Its not totally load dependant - I can cruise along at say 3,000rpm and its fine - but if I'm going up a hill at 3,000rpm so I have to press the gas a little bit more then the miss is there...

Perhaps the miss is just being masked until it's under load, then it's noticeable. Have you checked spark in all plugs independently? I had a bad injector solder that was ok under idle, but once you hit it, it would drop. If you have other injectors, and you know they're good, I'd try them (if the spark is there in all cyl's).

I will try the other injectors tomorrow night and see how that goes

My bet is on spark plug gaps..

What brand, what gap?

What Dwell time in the Stinger?

Yeah - I'll double check the plugs tomorrow along with swapping out injectors.

Not sure on the brand - cheap brand - but I have changed them once already and the miss never went away.
Dwell in the stinger is 2.6ms - I tried up to 3 and down to 2 but there's no difference...

Some appear to have burnt oil on, that will be from the previous build with a broken piston.

Surely if it were an electrical miss there would be black plugs and un-burnt fuel?

If an injector was misfiring then there wouldn't be any excess fuel and there wouldn't be any black plugs, just like what mine look like?

Suggestions?

Right so I've changed the injectors and the miss is still there.
I tried raising the fuel pressure and its still there.
The plugs look ok but I cant find my feeling gauge so I'll have to check their gap in the weekend.
Next option would be new plugs and try another ignitor

Starting to run out of options haha

I come from a land down under
Try doing as I suggested at the start.....

It's no use swapping parts until you rule out the simple obvious things first.

A set of feeler gauges might be $10 go grab a new set so you're not running around like a chook with no head.
