Is this one of those "tornado" things? One of those spiral doo-hickies that you put in your intake? If so, here are a couple posts I made on another forum about them.
I found a few testimonials about the tornado gimmick online.

I bought a device called the Tornado Air Intake last year. It is a "turbine" to be put inside the air intake hose.
Has no moving parts but is supposed to create a swirl effect in the air and make the combustion more
efficient. see www.tornadoair.com The company claims it increases mpg and horsepower. My experience is
that milage suffered and the car performed worst. It probably costed $5 to make but the company charged
$70 for it. I should have known better. I hated being a fool but what I hate more is if some other car owner
fall victim too. Please spread the word.

The mileage test was done with the mileage from three tank full's of gas and averaging them out. The same tests were done after the Tornados were installed. Fuel mileage on the Chevy Pick up increased by .2 mpg and the Lincoln Town Car increased by .1 mpg. The mileage on the S-10 decreased by .4 mpg. So much for the fuel mileage increase.

How about the increase in power? All three drivers said they felt an increase in power after installing the Tornados. I put them back on the Dynamometer to see how much the power increased. We got the same horsepower readings on all three cars, no increase in horsepower. I asked the drivers why they said their cars had more power and they all said, "Well, it felt like it had more power."

After these two tests were done, I did another emissions test. As with the other two tests, there was no reduction in the exhaust emissions of any of the test vehicles.

The feel of increased power is what the consumer expects to feel. So it is a matter of perception.

Draw your own conclusions...
Another test of the Tornado:
Spiral Intake a.k.a. The Tornado (Back to Index)

Here's what I found on the dyno. The data is uncorrected and smoothed (to avoid getting too many unbalancing peaks) to S=3 on dynojet's software. I made six passes on the dyno. Two with the Tornado unit installed followed by a 20 minute cooldown (with the engine idling) and two runs without the Tornado installed. Following yet another 20 minute cooldown with the engine idling I proceeded to make two more runs with the Tornado unit installed.

Run #1 w/Tornado: 145.1 HP, 147.3 lb-ft Run #2 w/Tornado: 145.3 HP, 146.7 lb-ft

Run #3 noTornado: 148.0 HP, 149.8 lb-ft Run #4 noTornado: 146.8 HP, 149.3 lb-ft

Run #5 w/Tornado: 145.6 HP, 148.8 lb-ft Run #6 w/Tornado: 146.3 HP, 148.4 lb-ft

As you can see from the above numbers, coming in "hot" from the street produced the lowest numbers. I did allow for about a 10-15 minute cooldown before hitting the dyno the first Time. So perhaps the second run wasn't surprising, with the car probably being a bit cooler. The third set of runs is what put the nail in the coffin when it comes to the Tornado. Although the third set was a bit improved over the first set, it was still visibly lower than the second of runs. (thanks to JTT)

Yet another snake oil automotive product.

i just read up on the E-ram, and it looks promising. but not sure if i wanna go ahead and buy it without any feed back from someone who has tried it. also i read some forums and basically it does boost ur hp about 7hp but the hp:$ ratio isnt worth it.

i would advise against looking into snake oil products like that and start investing in real mods for your car. if the thing worked people would be using it.

is the e-ram that electric powered turbo thing?

i've seen these electric fans that work like a turbo does but off of an electric motor...are they any good?

my guess would be....no. lol. i'd never bolt one up unlessit got praise...it sounds like a decent idea in the fact that it adds PSI to the intake, but it seems like a bad idea in the practical world

If anyone has had anything to do with VW's you'd know it was crap. I've seen people put undrive pulleys on the alternator and run the fan ducts to a modified carb cleaner. Of course they relocated the oil cooler. Just forcing a mute amount of air into your car does nothiing. It seems to me it is an ignorant attempt at super charging.
Do I have a link supporting it? No. Its from personal experience with someone trying the exact same principals on an engine. Dyno sheet. On a 1600cc vw? Smoke much crack lately? I'm just making a comparison between what has been tried and the idea of an electric "forced" air tool. That is what it seems like to me.. a tool. If you want to go as far as to waste money on something like that might as well turbo or do something original and make a completely modded version of a supercharger for a supra. Dont say it cant be done. Any thing can be done if you have deep enough pockets.

well ive been looking at the e-ram thing they say if u dont get SIGNIFICANT gains, u can get ur money back.

and if u goto the site it shows setups with cone filters, pipes, and cold air extensions greatly increase the power.

right now i have the short ram HKS knock off filter but im replacing that and making cold air pipes, so why not try it?
i will be buying this, so il let u guys know for sure :D
