Update. Dave's car is doing fine and Brad, well, he was reading his EGT's wrong.

I spoke with Brian (slow66) and he has driven 2000 miles so far and has another 600 more to go! I chatted with him for a while and if you are looking for his number, PM me and I will try and get back to you later. I am out of town and will try to get back on a network later.

Again have fun and drive safe! Race like you stole it though. Rumor has it that Shawn/Bryan will go to great lengths to show the other guys what's up. :evil2:

Argh! My timing belt tensioner bearing failed on the drive today! The caravan was held up for an hour while we searched for the problem. I just barely was able to roll it into a gas station in Wells, Nevada that luckily has a repair garage. Mark at Vancouver Toyota was able to pull some strings and is overnighting me a new tensioner and timing belt right to the shop here at 10am tomorrow. If all goes well, I'll only miss the dyno tomorrow and roll into Vegas tomorrow evening, badly needing a wash!

These desert roads with long steep inclines at 80-90 mph are pushing my coolant temps to the max. At home, the needle never moves, but I'm almost overheating out here!

Dave's clutch also just started slipping, any time he goes above 11psi! Hope it holds for the trip back!

Randy's AC just konked out, and mine is intermittent for some reason.

We were on the road for 15 hours (after spending an hour in a freeway traffic jam) the first day from Vancouver Canada, through Washington, Oregon, Idaho, into Jackpot Nevada for the night. Who says my car is just a show car/trailer queen. Hah! Supras were meant to be driven!

Sounds like a normal drive through the deserts of Nevada to me! I used to live in Reno/Sparks for 8 years, and the driving is brutal in the heat. Good luck with the rest of your trip, and enjoy SILV!!!:icon_bigg
Wishing I was there...

Brad, are you still wanting photos on the way back? If so, I need to know approx date/times.

Anyone else who's wanting some photos on the way back, if you're passing through the portland/seattle area email me and photos can be arranged. Who knows, if you all come back together, maybe a rolling group shoot (which would be epic).

Edit: Tom, did you grab that mirror?

Well we rolled into Vegas at about 7:30-8pm andwent straight to the In N Out burger....Brad the rest of the drive is fine, there is no more hills, its just straight and flat, sorry we had to leave you there but there was no sense in having all 7 cars wait. It sounds like you got it figured out though. Me and Dave averaged 100+ MPH for the last 5 hours of the drive!! 101 octane at the pump is cheaper than our 94 in Canada, only $5.99 a gallon!!!. I gotta get some sleep, gotta do a bit of tuning on my car before the dyno.

BTW, how many 1jz cars are dynoing or racing???....."smack!!!"

Well we got done tuning the car on the dyno last night and it runs perfect except for the fact it is majorly down on power. Only made 580rwhp on 34 pounds of boost! We messed with it till 1 am trying to figure out why the car is down over 100rwhp at any given boos level! Im leaving shortly and hope i make it to the dyno on time in vegas.

75mph is the highest allowed speed (by law) anywhere in NV. 100 mph will get you a huge fine, but won't get you tossed into the clink, like it will in alot of states. Reason; minimal traffic volumes, on the posted 75mph roads.
I miss NV for that one thing alone!

I was worried about your clutch but apparently you don't need a break in period. I hope you figure out your loss of power problem. I never have found out why mine keeps loosing boost, but maybe I will some day. Hopefully everyone makes it back home safely and with their cars all running great. I hope everyone is taking videos and pictures so those of us that can't make it still get to enjoy the event.

Good luck to all on the dyno and the track.

What a disaster. Got stood up by the small town mechanic that was supposed to fix my timing belt tensioner today, and no where else could take it till tomorrow. I brought some tools with me, but not enough for this job. I would have bought the tools and fixed it myself on the road side, but I cracked the ceramic on one of my spark plugs that I was changing and it shattered into lots of tiny pieces that need a shop vac and small hose to get out of there properly, that may fall into the combustion chamber as well.

I'm so upset at this point I'm just going to head home tomorrow.

My timing belt is in good shape, but the tensioner pulley bearing only got noisy during the trip, and failed quickly after that. No warning at all.

If it was you stuck 1500 miles from home, you wouldn't be laughing. Joke or not, there is a time and a place for it and this is not it.

Timing belt isn't that bad, we did a HG in the track parking lot and drove 1000 miles home. But I can understand.

I am not saying that the work is hard, it is the comment and timing of it (no pun intended) that bothered me.

Gosh, that sucks tekdeus. Have a safe trip back home.

That was below the belt snake eyes even if you're just kidding.

I can't imagine the frustration and agony of being broken down 1500+ miles away from home...
