I have a 1987 n/a . I installed new Felpro valve stem seals and I noticed they took very little force to install them. I dipped them in oil, inserted them into a 10mm socket and extension and pushed them on. I felt 1 click and it looked like they were on. Like I said.. it took very little force compared to removing the original ones.
Has anybody here installed Felpro valve stem seals? I am second guessing myself thinking that maybe I should have pushed them harder and they may not be fully seated. I read that on the stock Toyota seals you should feel 2 clicks. I also read in Dylan Wiggins tutorial 101 that he was surprised on how little pressure it took to install them.
Please help. I am racking my brain on this and I would hate to have to take the entire head apart. I just buttoned it all up on Saturday and I am about to put it on the car. Thanks..

You can't compare the force required to remove old, hardened seals to new ones. As for how much force it should take to install the new ones, I couldn't say other than to point out that such commentary would be rather subjective.

I removed a cam and took 2 springs out just to be sure. I tried to reseat the valve stem seal and it wouldn't go in anymore. I checked another one with the same result. I then carefully removed one and it was pretty hard to remove. The felpro seals that I bought only have 1 internal ridge in them... thus the 1 click I felt when installing them. They went on with very little force required .....just a little push.... but the certainly stay on.

I've used them quite a few times, on many different vehicles. It usually doesn't take much to put them on. Just make sure that they are all on straight. I use the same socket trick as well.
