anyone know where i can get a tool fairly cheap for compressing the valves to take them out of the head? a guy at NAPA used something made for a motorcycle last time i had work done, but he doesn't work there anymore.

There is a link somwhere about this i found 5 years ago. All you need is 2 pieces of pvc pipes and a rope. It is what i used. One pipe is 3/4" about 1' long and the other in 1" about 8" long. cut a u shape in the bottom of the 1" pipe (so you can get the keepers out. insert rope into combustion chamber throu the spark plug hole, use wrench to compress the rope into the top of the head, Then place the 1" over the spring and place the 3/4" inside of the 1" pipe and push down on the 3/4" pipe to compress the spring, and remove the keepers.

Im not sure about the pvs size i did this over 5 years ago. But it dose work, and dam good as well, and cost less then $2

Dose any one have the link to this?????????

*IF YOU PULLED THE HEAD*

Go to advance auto parts and you can do thier "loan a tool" service. they have the clamp shape compressor tool which is best for the 7m head. you pay $50 and they give you 45 days to use it. bring it back and they give you your money back. simple

Best tool you will ever find for this kind of work. Makes replacing valves and seals a piece of cake :

That is kinda nice... but for the $86 i'de rather invest into the Snap on valve spring compressor kit that i bought. It allows me to do just about any car or valve setup in use today. I only paid $120 for it and have never had a problem with it.

I do like the looks of the head stand they are showing there on that site tho
