Is the factory valve cover gasket known to leak, I noticed a little oil under one of the bolts, the oil is getting on the exhaust manifold and smokes, is this anything to be worried about?

The screws back off over time. Check to see if any of them are finger tight. the screws by cyl. 6 were very loose when I replaced my gaskets.

No the back, but any of them being loose will cause it to leak. They don't need to be very tight but make sure they are.

is cylinder 6 in the front, thats where it leaks.

Tighten it down, and check it after a few heat cycles. One of the first things i did to mine, was i replaced the gaskets, used grade A bolts that i could clamp down with a socket, and i put beads of FIPG around the corners of the gaskets to make sure they really seal.

do NOT overtighten though...

it's 24 INCH lbs, not 24 FOOT lbs...

That is the reason they used the screws instead of a normal bolt, so people wouldn't overtighten...

I switched them out for bolts and torqued them down with loctite last night while doing my plugs and wires.

Idk if that was the best option....

I have my valve covers off quite a bit, and i know i would never use locktight on mine...

there is 4 types of loctite Purple/Green/Blue/Red........

"Blue Removable No. 242, 243, 246, 248, 2432 & 2440 - Used for things you may want to unscrew with minimal hassle. It cures into a brittle, glassy bond that takes one good twist to break, but removes cleanly after that. Preferably to be used with Valve Covers, Water Pumps and Oil Pan Bolts"

I recently re-did my valve covers and I reused my old gaskets because Adjuster told me that the new gaskets will compress over time and start to leak. I just cleaned the old ones up and put a thin bead of "The Right Stuff" around the inside of the whole gasket. Everything sealed up nice and no more leaks. I also replaced the stock hardware with stainless steel hex head bolts, lock washers and neoprene backed washers. If anyone is looking fore new hardware shoot me a PM I have some extra sets that I would let go for $10 plus shipping.
