I have seen a couple of pictures of engine bays on here that have these vacuum manifold mounted on the firewall. I was told to talk to bishop92t and he has not answered my pm neither has anyone else that I have seen. how are these hooked up? what are the benefits? I searched the terms vacuum, manifold, and install........ and I still can't find what I'm looking for. Can someone suggest some better terms to guide my search or do you have a link to installation tips? :1zhelp:

It's not that complicated, you can probably find one on ebay (haven't search for one mind you). Just look at the pics, most people run a major vacuum line (like the banjo bolt like on the manifold going to the brake booster) to the box, then run all accesories needing vacuum to that box (this includes a new line going to the brake booster).

You haven't found anything because it's so straightforward, there was never a need for a thread before.

Hook up Vacuum Manifold to a fairly large vacuum source (I.E. the brake booster line)
Find a place for it
Hook up your vacuum sources to it. Block off any unused ports.

Benefits: Cleans it up under the hood if you have a lot of extra vacuum lines running everywhere, you can simplify them into a central location.

Hey dude.

I have one hooked up, you can come by and check it out if you'd like.

Basically I hooked the main port up to the brake booster line and then ran a new line from the manifold to my bov/fpr/heater vsv/etc.

i'll shoot ya a PM.

Where's a good place to find a vauum box? There's none on ebay, I just go finished checking.

I found a great place when I bought my Golden Eagle one. It was cheaper than I'd ever seen it... like, 40 bucks shipped I think.

I'll look when i get home, I'm pretty sure I still have the emails.

I just bought a blue one, came with all hardware for install, plus a bunch of nylon fittings, (may change these out) price, 45.99 shipped, brand, Golden Eagle.

Yep, that's where I got mine... Shipping? 15.00 :3d_frown:, egay's a bitch like that sometimes (well, the sellers are ne ways). I find it amazing that a 1 pound objects costs 15.00 for shipping and it usually takes 1-2 weeks to get here!

You could head to an industrial supply shop and get basically the same thing for about $5 with the fittings...look in the compressor parts section for an air manifold. Same thing, but you lost the logo.

yesh you can.

I was thinking about modding a fuel rail. Cutting it in half and threading in some fittings. Just a thought I had the other day.

for my "new" setup i simply drill/tapped the underside of the intake manifold for some big NPT (3/4"? i forget...) and used an adaptor fitting to -10, -10 line to feed the manifold (-10 because i'm now running my brake booster off of it).

Your not using the nylon fittings are you? I'm pretty sure you're not, but it's kinda hard to tell. You would think you'd run the risk of not sealing the vacuum manifold completely with nylon fittings correct?

BTW, is that a zip tie holding down the the powersteering res (I think that's what the canister is on the passenger side by the air filter)? ;)
